    http://www.slashgear.com/xoom-wifi-tablet-gets-the-official-iml77-android-ics-update-18209664/

I just got a notification on mine for an update called IML77 on mine. A quick Google brought up the link above.

It takes about 5 minutes to install and reboot. The boot screen is much nicer than the old honeycomb flashy one.

It doesn't wipe the tablet. All my apps are still installed and my data appears the same as before (videos are still on the tablet, save games are still there). I even had ADW Launcher installed and it's kept that as the default. Now I just have to figure out how to get back to the ICS launcher.

So far all I've noticed is that the fonts are different, the tablet seems snappier (although it wasn't slow before) and the settings control panel seems to have more options. It seems nice enough but nothing earth shattering so far.

And so the wait for the owners of the UK/Ireland version begins I guess.. :)

Considering how long it took to get 3.1 over here I will not be holding my breath for 4.0.

Ive had 4.0 on the xoom for almost a month now (unlocked and rooted). Its a far superior OS revision for the tablet. Its a lot smoother and more responsive than Honeycomb.

This news is nice to hear. My sister in Oz hates her zoom (primarily because skype doesn't really work for her). Hopefully ICS will be better for her. I suppose she won't get the update until after UK/Ireland (guess)

I don't think the update will help. Skype is more dependent on the network. Updating the OS won't help that. Skype has been fine (well as good as it is on the PC) on mine since Honeycomb.

I've been reading issues around skype 2.6 and xoom. Apparently getting skype 2.5 is the answer. Anyway with the issues its not a case of network (her's is wifi only).

    Rooted my XOOM last night
Converted my region XOOM to a GED XOOM

Then got a few OTA updates. Now on ICS. Delighted.
It was alot easier than I thought it would be.

You wouldn't have a link to a simple step by step instructions to do exactly what you did?

Ballyman - off topic, but just a thanks for your advice a while back on Xoom as an android tablet option. Picked one up about ten days ago and happy as a happy thing. Running 3.2 and does exactly what I need it to.

    Cheers.

I'll be waiting patiently for the 'corporate' ICS offering...
