Loss Of Sound on Signal Transfer

    Folks,
I have an ex sky box (not HD or Sky plus) which was working perfectly. Today i installed a Humax Freesat 500 HDD inc new dish etc to my main set and decided to run a single cable from the old sky box (still connected to the dish) via the RF out to a tv in the kitchen. The kitchen tv is a Walker Saorview and the signal from the old box is perfect but no sound.
On my main set I am getting a perfect picture and sound from this old sky box.
    Any ideas please?

Would it not make more sense to move the Sky box to the kitchen? As long as the cable you've run for the RF out is of good enough quality to carry satellite signals & doesn't go through any splitters, amplifiers or wall plates, you can join it to the cable from the dish & use it to feed the satellite signal to the kitchen.

The lack of sound on RF might be due to the wrong PAL (analogue tv) variant being selected on the kitchen tv; it should be set to PAL I.

    Peter,
The old sky box is used to transfer the short digital Saorview cable through from the wall ariel and I have since posting earlier run the cable out via RF into a Labgear amplifier. This then boosted the signal but again perfect picture but no sound.
I can get perfect sound via the other saorview channels on the Walker kitchen TV!!
If I change the PAL on the kitchen tv will this interfere with the other channels and how do I change the PAL?
    Thanks.

What about the broadcast (not from Sky box) analogue channels? Do they have sound?

If not, go to the tv's Install Menu & change the sound system to 'I' (choice of BG, DK, I & L).

Just managed to tune in the kitchen tv to the Sky box. I went into digital manual search, highlighted the channel number and changed the frequency by fine tuning same. Now appears to be working.
    Thanks for the input Peter.

You will be viewing the Sky box RF output on an analogue channel.

I'd still check the 'Sound System' setting in the Install Menu; with the wrong setting, fine tuning could have returned the sound but at some cost to picture quality.

Thanks Peter, will check that tomorrow. Too late now and I don't want to lose it again. Will have more patience tomorrow.
