Wii in Black and White

Hi, I recently just set up my Wii on a new tv (it hasn't been used for about 2 years!). It seems to be working ok but is in black and white only. I googled this and it seems to be in relation to the cables - I have red, white and yellow (composite?) but the points on my tv are red, green and blue (component?). I spoke to a guy in Gamestop yesterday and he said that getting a scart block and plugging my red, yellow and white cables should fix it but no joy. Before I go ahead and order the component cable, has anyone seen this before or know if this will work? I can't seem to get them anywhere in Dublin so will have to order from Amazon.

    Cheers

Just noticed someone else has the same issue as you a few days ago. Maybe see if you can change the 50/60Hz setting?

Strange that your TV doesn't come with composite in. It sounds like a 50/60 Hz problem as well. Buying a scart block will do nothing for this since you will still be getting a composite signal. My advice is to get an RGB scart cable or a component cable for the wii, although the fact that composite works through the red green and blue socket suggests it isn't Component.

Therefore I suggest the RGB cable. A true RGB scart cable is different to composite plugged into a scart block which is still composite. RGB scart is a universal standard and will work on any TV. It also has the benefit of giving a much better video image than composite which looks god awful at the best of times.

However before that check the 50/60 Hz options in the Wii menu and try out all the video output options to see if this sorts the problem out.

Cheers for the advice. Just tried the 50/60 thing but not joy so I've ordered an RGB cable. Fingers crossed that'll do the job!:)
