7 seater luggage space - rental

We're going to South Spain for holidays this year and i am checking out car hire at the moment. There's 6 of us in total (2 families of 3) and we are thinking of renting a 7 seater instead of 2 cars as we have done before.

However we will have 6 suitcases and 6 carry-on bags so I need to make sure the 7 seater has enough space to take the luggage. I was looking at an Opel Zafira, but it is rated for *one* piece of luggage, according to the rental website. It works out at about €750 for the 2 weeks so not bad price wise, we need to keep this as cheap as possible.

Any suggestions for 7 seaters with good luggage space, bearing in mind we will be using 6 of the 7 seats!

    Thanks!

Get two cars, for peace and independence. You will have times each couple/family might like to head off on your own.

Two Corsas would do. For the sake of the extra few Euro, do it.

    Hi there
We usually rent a car when we travel abroad and were a family of 5 plus 2 grandparents when we rented our last 7 seater.
Luggage space is tiny but because kids were small we put it all on the floor at their feet. It was only two journeys to and from the airport where we had the luggage in tow so it didnt really matter.
However on our last trip we were a family of 6 plus 2 grandparents and we rented a 9 seater minibus. Oh the comfort! Plenty of legroom and loads of space for the endless stuff small people require.
Bear in mind that most of the 7 seaters are not full 7 seaters (think S Max versus Galaxy). The rear two seats wouldn't really be suitable for adults. If there isnt much in the price of the 7 seater and mini bus I would go with the bigger one especially if you intend to do much travelling. Enjoy!

You could be right. We've done this before and it has worked out well. But we're penny pinching and trying to see if this is a workable and cheaper option.

But I have a feeling we'll end up with 2 cars after all....

Hi there OP, went to Spain last year with 6 and lots of bags. Rented a Kia Carnival (similar to a Sedona) 2.9TD auto. It did the job perfectly, wasn't too heavy on the juice and had ice-cold a/c ! I used a crowd called Cargest, found them very good and reasonably priced. A regular 7 seater won't be big enough trust me !

    Thanks for the replies!

We have decided to go for 2 cars. The Kia is about €1,200 for the 2 weeks, but we can get 2 Fiestas for a total of €600 for the 2 weeks, so half the price!
