I normally research the car, then buy it.
I must be doing it wrong.

    :)
I usually do too but after driving a sensible car for the last 5 years I wanted something 'fun' for a few months, I damaged my car so needed a replacement quickly and didnt want to rush into buying a 10k - 15k car.

Surprised at that, sounds low for a (presume) NA celica, even if it is a higher powered version.

There are two 2.0 nasp engines in the ST202 Celica, the 3SGE is 165ish bhp, I had one of them, on a Cork to Dublin spin it would return 35mpg if cruising at motorway speeds. It wasn't too bad around town either, the worst it returned for me was 18/19mpg.

The 140bhp version I have no experience of, couldn't be too different though.

OP: Is it a GT4, GT or jap import?

Make sure you join the owners club...www.celicaireland.com/forum :D

And best of luck with the new purchase...As always drive hard it'll drink juice, take it easy & it won't be so bad.

    You think it's a gt4??? Any Pic??

If the frame starts with st205 then it is a gt4, if its st202 then it's not.

    You'd think you'd have mentioned first of all that it's a GT4 rather than a NA 2wd 2L?

i'm not a revhead, the letters and numbers mean nothing to me. I'll have a look at it later when I get home.

right its a TOYOTA CELICA GT FOUR 3-Door Hatchback Petrol 1998cc when I put the reg into the insurance website to get a quote.

lol, Well those letters & numbers mean a world of difference!
A GT4 is 4-wheel drive so don't expect brillaint MPG!!

    It's a performance car for a reason, not a commuter machine....Enjoy! :D

    4wd + 240bhp turbo engine...

Nice yoke but I certainly wouldn't buy one without getting it checked out - 4wd, turbo, superstrut $$! Best of luck Mollyd90!

If it's not knocking over bumps the superstrut set up is more than likely fine, for now at least.
