Just wondering can any1 help me there may be a chance of me getting 3-4mths temp work with a company i use to work with last yr, i was made redundant in june , due to a downturn in the market they said they may need me again for 3mths or so? im currently 4mths preg but what way would my social welfare work out, would i be able to sign back on if i wasnt entitled to maternity benifit?

You may be able to get Maternity Benefit if you are still employed at the stage where you can take Maternity Leave (16 weeks prior to your due date).

If you don't qualify for Maternity Benefit, you should have no problem signing on again for Jobseekers. With the extra PRSI contributions that you have earned, you may be able to re-qualify for Jobseekers Benefit rather than relying on the Jobseekers Allowance.

For Jobseekers you have to be looking for full-time work, but they excuse you from signing for the last 4 weeks of the pregnancy and the first 12 weeks after the baby is born.

If you are a single parent, you can claim for One Parent Family Payment instead of your Jobseekers once the baby is born, or if you are living with someone, and if he/she is working more than 19 hours a week, he/she may be eligible for FIS.
