Cycling into fatherhood

The thread title is the title of this interesting article although the article is broader than that as it talks of a life in which bicycles have played a huge part generally. I found it a good read as it paints a very positive picture of a lifestyle which many people would be very sceptical of or perhaps even fear.

I've dealt with the author in the past as it was from his bike shop in Tipperary (since renamed as velo.ie - they deserve the occasional plug!) that I bought our child trailer, and his enthusiasm for cycling and general zest for life came across even during our brief interactions via e-mail. I have his book sitting at home waiting to be read too, it looks like it'll be interesting. He is basically a good advert for a life in which cycling is given great importance, and not just from a hobby or sporting point of view. The world would benefit from more of his kind of outlook and optimism I think.

He isn't at velo.ie anymore though, and the shop has moved to Birr. I emailed him about a part a while ago and velo.ie replied with this information.

Yes, he sold up his interest in it and moved to France. I've only dealt briefly with the shop since but found them helpful. Hadn't realised they'd moved though, I don't know how I missed that - d'oh!

It is (well, kinda). You get a purpose built tandem suited to yourself plus child and get your young offspring to do all the pedaling. Sure, kids are only full of energy. :)
