    Hi all,

I have a gold watch with some of the face flat. There are some scratches etc on the flat part of the case around the glass. Is it possible to get these polished/ground out?

    Thanks.

    Hi Swampy.

I'm assuming this is gold plated or ion plated, as opposed to being a 9ct or higher "real" gold watch (which would be very expensive).

If that's the case you should be very careful of trying to buff out the scratches. Unless the watch has got very thick plating, then you are likely to polish through the gold colour and reveal the steel case underneath - and it will likely look worse than before you started.

Hi Calcul, it's solid 18ct Rose gold. Would wiers be the best place?

Wow, nice. I don't have any experience with this so I can't say for sure, but I would guess it should be possible if the scratches are not very deep.
I'm sure if you ask them in Weirs they will give you an opinion on it, or maybe someone better experienced on this board may be able to give you some advice!
