I want to be able to sell it with Windows still installed though. Will that not remove everything?

Apologies, yes it will. Does your computer have a restore partition, ie does it say "Press F9 to begin recovery" or something similar when you switch on the PC? If so you can use that to wipe your current installation of Windows and start afresh. Mind you if you are paranoid about security it would still be possible to read ghost files from the disk.

Running DBAN before you do this though will destroy any recovery partition.

Download the Windows 7 ISO HERE for your version, burn to a DVD and it will activate with the serial number printed underneath the machine, Dban is the best way to wipe all data, you can use tools like Eraser in Windows, but there will likely be traces and other stuff making Dban the better solution

Thanks for that lads. I'll get the ISO then run DBAN and do a fresh install. I think I deleted the recovery partition doing a previous restore.

wow....how has no one said factory restor yet?

    it's windows 7 so i'm assuming it's built in.

    google it.

Easiest way, comes as just out of the box condition.
