Say what you will about Sainz, Makinen and Loeb, none of them had the flair or charisma of Mr Kankkunen. A true motoring great.

I agree Rob. Kankkunen is really great all-rounder on the wheels.
Also in private life and nowadays he is running Driving Academy and I've read only positive feedback there.
Kankkunen is feet down on earth person and you can see his motoring passion from the collection - not bling-bling only chrome and gold but real machines

The model A with BDA engine is my personal favourite. The sound track of the car is just so wrong. The car also features quad link rear suspension from the same car (mk 2 Escort rally car)

What is it about all Finnish rally/F1 drivers being complete legends?

Need for speed is in the DNA i guess + Finland is big country with not much population so you have a loaaads of empty fast gravel roads thru forest where to practice in free time.. there's hard gravel, fast tracks.. it not mudy or rocky like Wales or Greek.. so speed is always present

and to become legend, must be consistent performance for years, love motors and enjoy working with a team
