Was coming up one of the fields today in the Matbro about 5.30pm when I spotted a pair of eyes in the hedge, it moved off, looking back once before it went through an old gate into the next field.

I carried on along the headland, could see it over the hedge in the field still watching me. When I came to the lane heading out of the field I killed the lights and the engine and hopped out.

I crept round the corner and spied the fox still looking my way. A quick squeal had ir running my way :) I lay down on the bank and kept on quietly squeaking and saw it run along the fence towards me, he disappeared from view before appearing bout 5 ft from my face

It stared at me for what felt like an age, prob bout 5 seconds, stared right at me, twitched it nose, took a good sniff den turned around and headed off

Have to say was eerie being so close to a wild animal :D Days like this make me glad I dont sit behind a desk in a city

I kinda know how you feel. I was out shooting foxes one morning last year early in the morning and while creeping between two whin bushes, trying to get closer to a nice vixen,I stood on a young rabbit, he obviously was TOO good at playing the "don't move and the Hunter won't see you" game, and the little fella let out a good, loud squeal and frightened the ****e out of me:D my companion very nearly wet himself laughing. Needless to say, charlie fecked off pretty quickly, also probably having a good giggle at the big thick oaf who was standing there like a plank trying to figure out what the hell just happened!
