HELP WITH GPS ICON ON HTC DESIRE S

    Hi,
Can any of you guys help me out.....im worn out spending hours trawling forums and not finding an answer to my problem!
My husband bought me a HTC Desire S for christmas which seems to work perfectly!
My problem is when I've used an app like maps or log onto Facebook my GPS symbol activates in the top tray of the screen (satellite dish with 2 green lines flashing) but then when I have closed down the app AND turned off "gps" and "wireless networks" in "location" the symbol remains
I have downloaded a "task killer" which has no effect on it. I have checked running apps and forced closed anything that might effect it, still to no avail. The only thing that works is rebooting the phone which I dont want to have to do each time Ive used my GPS.
Im usually great at sorting these things out myself but this has me flumuxed
    Any advice please.............

You could just turn gps on/off before/after you us maps etc. I usually leave gps off and only turn it on when i need it as it a bit of a battery drain. There is a power control widget that you can put on your home screen that makes it easy to turn off.

Go to Settings>Location and security and turn off Use GPS satellites.

You will still get an accurate to within 50 meters location by only using wireless networks for location which is good enough for things like maps and facebook and geo tagging pictures etc..

Only turn on GPS if your using navigation.

Thats what I'm saying wont work!
Even when iv done this the GPS icon still flashes on the screen....its driving me mad
Thinking there's a setting somewhere Iv missed or a bug but really hope its not the latter and cant think of how it could be a bug either as haven't downloaded anything thats not from the market.
    Any other suggestions

Something you've downloaded is either turning it back on or its a bug then. Try backing up all your data and apps and doing a factory reset and see if it happens on a cleaned down device.
