I recently came across a pile of sheet music from around the time of the easter rising..some of the songs were odes to the executed men and other were written by rebel leaders themselves, including one by James Connolly(when he was alive presumably).

Sheet music isnt really my thing so i was wondering if there's much interest in stuff like this.

The Irish Traditional Music Archive http://www.itma.ie/

or The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/

Failing that the Wolfe Tones haven't had any new stuff in decades.

It is worth pointing out that (for example) Whytes take 20% of the sellers price, and 20% from the buyer too.

If the item sells for a hammer price of €100, this means the buyer has to pay €120.00 and the seller recieves €80.00. Whytes take the rest.

I believe this percentage may be negotiable for higher end items (but they can confirm that).

Some auction houses also charge a listing price, to cover the costs of photographing the items and listing them.

Valuations & estimates are free however. Good luck with the sale, they look interesting.

I think you should definitely contact the ITMA and offer them copies before selling them on. They might already have them but no harm asking just in case. I play in a session myself and we do a lot of ballads so it would be right up my alley :)

I thought it was funny that this one:

was published by Waltons. Martin Walton himself was a well known republican who took part in the Easter Rising. He also appeared in the TV documentary ' Curious Journey ' http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056138595

I have agreed to let the ITMA have the collection so they will be available online soon!

Fantastic stuff, fair play to you. I usually get notified by their facebook page of new collections being added, but just in case you hear of them going up, do please let me know.
