    Hey, well now that I am getting my provisional today(applied last week), I need to start get going on these lessons, I saw an interesting post here yesterday person said you can't take lessons without having car for practice between. So:

    1) Really like? What if I take lets say 24 hours of lessons? to do like 1 hour training, 1 hour practice? or would instructor not waste his time on letting me practice?

    2) What if I ask my friends mother or father to let me practice? I mean their insurance wouldn't cover me, any good place we could drive to where it's free of people and has barely any chance of garda being there?

    3) Do I just go to ADI website, pick some instructor and call them?

    1. Most instructors would happily and confidently get most people to test standard in 24 hours of lessons.
    2. You can get some basic practice in empty car parks where it is not illigal to drive without insurance.
    3. All instructors are listed on the RSA site. But you could find a recommended one.

    Can someone recommend an instructor so? I am thinking of taking 20-24 hours of lessons so that I am 100% sure how everything works and learn as much as possible. Doesn't matter male or female. Also preferable if instructor doesn't have negative attitude towards internationals (just in case there are any). In Dublin area and cheap as possible.

    You must be insured to drive a car in a public place.
    It doesn't matter if it's an empty car park or not, it's still illegal. A Guard could very well do you for driving without insurance.

    The rules of the roads just states "public roads". I am open to correction from a quote from the Road Traffic Act. But I think that will just state that you should have insurance and if you don't, you personally are liable for any injury or damage.

    “public place” any street, road or other place to which the public have access with vehicles whether as of right or by permission and whether subject to or free of charge;

    “public road” a road the responsibility for the maintenance of which lies on a road authority

    I was on the same boat like yourself just over a month ago. Had about 12 hours lessons with my instructor who i think is pretty decent. ( Sent you a PM ). Bought a car after the 7th hour, strarted to get practice then between sessions.
    All going pretty well so far. :D
