Are You Immortal?

Had a conversation a few nights ago with a former jockey in his 50's, who told me when he was my age he drank, smoked, did drugs, broke bones, turned over cars and never once thought he would pay the price for it because he thought he was immortal. Now he's an alcoholic with emphysema, and he probably couldn't run as far as the garden gate.

In many ways I think I myself am immortal; apart from maintaining the correct weight, I never give my health a second thought. I have a bad habit of driving too fast, I don't even blink at putting unknown chemicals in my mouth anymore, I act irresponsibly around fire and animals, and am generally pretty negligent in terms of safety hazards.

As irrational as it is, I just never believe anything bad will happen to me. Does anyone else think they are immortal?

    I might be a warlock.

    I think I'm infallible.

It would be nice to be immortal, one day very soon, we will never have to age again.

I am reminded of a quote by Will Ferrel in Talladega Nights.
With my income and the advances in modern science, hell I could live to be 255 or 300 years old.

Do you pay health or car insurance? If you do, why bother given the fact that you are immortal?

    Health insurance - no.

Car insurance - yes, because it's illegal not to and I don't want to have to pay for damages should I crash. Immortality doesn't mean I don't have accidents, it just means that I always survive them.

    Also sorcerer.

I just didn't want to sound like that Harry Potter chap.

I'v had a few close encounters that could have ended with my death and lots of my friends are dead so I thread carefully, I intend staying alive for as long as my son needs me.

    Sorry, didn't find "Sorcerer" only:

    "oathbreaker" or "deceiver".

I'm 25 and never felt physically better. Do you do any sports. You should turn it around while you're still young.

Ive thought about It. In a book I read the author put the idea out that if we die our conscience just jumps to the closest timeline where what ever killed you didnt happen. Its like were the star of our own timeline. Instead of dying it will be us that end up having our mind transfered to machines and living until the end of the universe. Sounds cool to me :pac:

    Yes.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

My brother's been in his fair share of car accidents, the number's approaching 10 I'd say. We joke about him being a cat and having 9 lives and all but he's as close to immortal as I've ever seen. How he's still alive this day I'll never know.

Yeah but that sounds like a lot of effort. :pac:

You'll love it if you do something and stick it for over a month. I train usually 5 days a week now and can't imagine life without it. Give it a try:)

Yeah, just a matter of getting started, should be starting before the end of the month.
