Shade's of 05/06, we never looked like finishing 4th, only actually got there on the last day of the season, our best player/striker/captain hasn't signed a contract yet with only a year left, and it looks as though our only chance of qualifying for the champions league is to go and win it.

Thurdsay nights, channel 5 here we come. We should all enjoy 4 more months of RVP while it lasts.

RVP will be on his bike if he has sense. That team is going nowhere with Wenger at the helm and he is pleasing the Board with his inactivity so he won't go too easily. What annoys me about the Arsenal team of the last number of years is the pure cowardice of the players. The lack of "will to win" that has crept into the side and which the manager is allowing. When did we win a 50/50 ball or a ball in the air today ? Merts header towards goal near the end is all I can remember. We have no players like Adams, Bould, Keown or Dixon who would die for the jersey and all we have is wee runts who get pushed aside and give up too easily. Wenger has ruined the team.

I don't get why people are absolutely 100% positive rvp is gonna leave and i have to keep asking where the hell is he gonna go? He's 30-odd, injury prone, and will cost a fortune to buy off arsenal. I can't see the teams in Europe better than arsenal willing to take that chance on him.

The Ox had cramp / was fatigued / was sick during the week.

I'm alright with that, pretty glad I didn't jump down Wenger's throat now and pretty unfair the way everyone critisizing him when he also made a great Sub in Yennaris for Johan. Yennaris is a very good crosser of the ball.

You mean you bought that excuse? Id imagine if that were true Van Persie wouldve been aware of the situation beforehand and also through talking to Chamberlain whilst they were on the pitch together and wouldnt have looked as pissed off as he did when the sub was made. I think its a bs excuse from Wenger to cover himself.

Wenger shouldn't play anyone who might get injured.

Even though the decision to bring Arshavin on was amazingly idiotic, I don't hold him at fault for the winner. The simple fact is that Thomas Vermaelen was nowhere to be found. Arshavin held the attacker off for as long as he could and I know I, for one, was frantically searching my screen for Vermaelen.

He was totally out of position and totally at fault, IMO, as he was (in conjunction with Djourou) for the first goal.

I know a lot of people in here, myself included, think he is one of the few great ambitious players in this Arsenal team but you cannot simply overlook a performance like that because you like the player. He needs to be held accountable.

On a lighter note, how fantastic was Chamberlain today? :D He frankly embarrassed Walcott IMO.

He's only 28 AFAIK and one of the top strikers in Europe. He has been injury free for well over a year. Not even a niggle. There will be plenty of takers imo

:confused::confused: hes 30 odd? they wont need to buy him off us his contract is running down. Many a team in europe would give there left testicle to have a player of Van Persies calibre in there team.

Anyone else notice RVP staring blankly into the crowd at the end of the game? In my honest opinion, I think he's already decided that his future lies elsewhere.. I can't blame him tho. Hes in the prime of his carrer now, and the only genuine world class player at the club.. How long is he with us? 7/8 years? And all he has is a single FA cup to his name...

Oh, and was I the only one that was semi impressed with our Park when he came on? I know he only had a few touches and made a couple of runs, but in those 7 minutes he done as much as Arshavin has all season.. Plus Park apparently can play anwhere across the front 3.

What are peoples thoughts on seeing, Oxo, RVP, Park as our front 3 next time around?? Can't be worse than what we've had to endure the last few months...

I don't see why we shouldn't. Wenger didn't decide right after the goal to substitute him. When we saw Ox's name on the starting XI. It wouldn't have been too far to say he's not going to get a full game. Journalists were tweeting that Arshavin was warming up too. It's not like Wenger saw something positive and then decided he didn't want to continue it.

My main gripe is why for Arshavin. I would have rathered see Yossi come on than Arshavin.

Yeah Yossi should have come on.

One good thing is that Ox started in the first place, hopefully we'll be seeing plenty more from him now.

I was thinking more like the summer transfer window, he'll be 29, so close enough to 30, i was a year out. Anyways the only teams could afford him would probably be city and barca, neither of which need him, and he wouldn't go to city, and i can't see barca going for another saga with arsenal. I don't really know reals financial situation or need for him, that being maybe the only other option.

I'm usually very very annoyed after getting beaten by that shower but I've such a feeling of meh at the moment. Even at 1-1 I wasnt expecting much so to see us get beat is not in the least bit surprising.

4th place is a world away, top 3 will probably stay as it is and Chelsea are the least crap out of us, them and Pool so they'll probably nick 4th. And to be honest, our football is dire and predictable and we dont really deserve to be 4th. Maybe a season of Europa League will waken the board from their slumber and see some investment in the team.

Wont hold my breath though. I have no faith in Wenger anymore, he's lost this team and when he still says we're missing players like Diaby all you can do is laugh. He's blindingly loyal to the dross in the team like Walcott and Arshavin and is placing our entire season on the hope that van Persie will stay fit. Getting close to endgame I feel.

Ah right cool I thought you were saying he 30 odd now :o, yeh i dont think hed move to another Enlglish club at least id hope not. But I can se a lot of teams in Spain, Italy, or even Bayern in Germany being very interested in him then lets not forget P.S.G in France now aswell.

But after the amount they got for cesc i can't see them making that mistake again and will be asking for mega bucks for rvp. Don't get me wrong he's bleeding fantastic and on the form of his life but in the long run i can't any of those teams willing to risk that amount of cash on him in the long run.

    .

Mhm good attitude to have. When we pulled the game level after a great spell and we looked more dangerous than we have in the last 3 games you didn't even raise an eyebrow? Questionable.

Why should I? Defeat was almost inevitable. We've taken the lead in the last 2 games and ended up getting beat. We've imploded so often at this stage I almost expect it now. Its just how this team does things. No desire, an an incredible ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We're just very very ordinary at the moment.

Eden Hazard was supposedly at the Emirates today as a guest of Gervinho

Well today just keeps getting better for us Arsenal fans, We loose to United, Sczeszny with his whole time to grow up and delete twitter have a funny feeling that has something to do with the rape comments a week or so back..

Then these stats appear up on twitter

3 - Ricardo Álvarez has assisted three of Diego Milito's last five Serie A goals. Duo

A player we were close to signing.

    Then this

The media in Germany and Russia report that the deal for Lucas Podolski has been agreed between FC Koln and Lokomotiv Moscow. #LFC #AFC

we badly need a left back Verm isn't a left back and this gets shown up in big games, he needs to be in the centre

Missing out on Podolski Isn't anything us gunners should be worried about, ya he would improve our options be hardly a world class talent we need.

Maybe be im wrong but he always striked me as just an average player who do well infront of the camera's in a few German international games

Then we would have 3 first choice left full backs at the club. the maths dont work out

Verm is doing a good job for us as a make shift left back

Im not so sure about that, in his international career hes always been a player i liked, also his club career in has been good bar his move to Bayern which didnt really work out well for him, this season for Koln hes been on fire hed be a great backup for Van Persie and can also play on the left side aswell.

He would improve the team and our options, hes a player i would really liked to see in an Arsenal shirt. Plus were never going to sign any world class players or even those of potential like Hazard or Gotze I think its something as Arsenal fans we have to be realistic with this current board and manager well never make the signing that will make people it up and go wow they mean business.

What about United going for him. It wont have gone unnoticed at Old T that his time at the Emirates could be coming to an end.

Lost all faith in Wenger when he took off Oxo(Leaving Walcott on) and bringing on Arshavin...Think we need huge changes to an average team as without RVP we would be 15th not 5th. As for Wenger surely he has to be under some pressure we have been in decline and even Spurs will finish ahead of us now!

I'd highly doubt Utd would be in for RVP, he's too old and he'd cost too much.

Maybe Spurs? That would be a great move for him imo, couldn't see ya's selling him to them though, when's his contract up?
