Please read this before buying Ecco shoes.

I had a similar problem to the examples in the web link. The shoes were kept for formal wear and only used about twenty times over a period of a few years. The soles literally dis-integrated, clumps of rubber coming away from the soles. Terrible customer service from Ecco in Wicklow street, Dublin 2. They said that the shoes were un-repairable and offered a 20% discount as a gesture of goodwill!!! The manager even used an analogy that if a car tyre was left unused for most of the year it would disintegrate too!!! unbelievable, I couldn't believe what I was hearing!

Rant over, but please bear this in mind because these shoes aren't cheap and as you see from these experience's, Ecco's (Ireland) customer service is abysmal.

Also, be sure that they're wide enough for your feet.... I have fairly wide feet, and bought a pair of flattish loafers (for under a suit) a few years ago. They felt fine when i tried them on, but absolutely KILLED me when I wore them for more than five minutes. Literally, I couldn't walk in them. I rang and discussed this with the shop - who said that yes, Ecco were fairly narrow-fitting, and no, they wouldn't consider any exchange/refund. Fair enough, the shoes were worn, and it was (sort of, only, IMO) my fault.

A pair of shoes that cost me well over €100, worn about three times, went to the Simon shop.

Last time I've even looked at Ecco shoes.

ETA - Tamaris, now - there's a brand well worth a look at.

I purchased a pair of ECCO Sculptured 65 Range shoes 4 weeks ago for comfort rather than style reasons. I purchased the shoes because the brand is recognised for comfort and quality. The upper part of the shoe caused me excruciating pain and the shoes are unwearable. I returned the shoes to ECCO on Wicklow Street and the Manager although acknowledging that the shoes were in perfect condition claimed that the only thing she could do because they had been worn three times was stretch the shoes. I explained that I don't have a wide foot but she said that was all that she could offer. She stretched the shoes and they are still unwearable. I reiterated that I wasn't looking for my money back but rather put the €100 towards the boot version - I felt that because of the cut of the shoe the boot may not cause the same problem.

I explained that the shoes are not fit for purpose. After paying €100 for a pair of shoes that could not be considered stylish three wears is unacceptable. My feet are still sore - the pain was agonising. I have to say the response I received from ECCO to date was extremely disappointing.

Anyone else have an issue with ECCO Sculptured Range?
