So as the title says I've got a telephone interview tomorro night for a company in Australia as a mechanic/fitter.ive 11 years experience in the trade that's no problem.but myself and the other half are looking to move to austrailia so thought this might be a good route to take.so I'm wondering is the fact I've got the phone interview a good sign.this company do state that they offer visas with there jobs also.the director that has being emailing me also said he had two other Irish guys flying out and starting with them soon when there visas come through.so is it a good sign and are phone interviews normal for all applicants.and the next question is I've never done a phone interview what should I expect.

Thanks in advance for all your help guys.

I did a phone interview before as the first of a series of interviews. They can be a bit weird to be honest so it might be a good idea to get someone to do a trial run with you.

As for what to expect well they're just look face to face interviews (or in my case it was anyway) so you can expect the usual questions. Go through your C.V. so make sure you're familiar with it (your previous jobs, your education etc) and any statements you make about yourself in it (if you say you've attention to detail be able to give an example etc).

For phone interviews, please remember that they cannot see you. Although this may be obvious, you may not realize that if you're gesturing with your hands, they won't see it, nor see your facial expressions.

    Thats Fantastic! Well done.
We are in the same position. My OH is a HGV Mechanic with 15 years experience.
We've been on SEEK and sent loads of C.V's off for different positions. We've not had ONE reply so far. We really want to get out of here.
Do you mind me asking who you went thru agency wise? or how you applied?
    Many Thanks
Congrats again on getting the job!

That user's been banned, so I doubt you'll get any answers from him. Best of luck in your own search though!

Whats the reason behind him being banned?

Someone needs to set up another one of these sites, moderate this moderate that.
    BAH.

By all means MODS, ban me if you like!

No problem. As for the reason, because I'm a nosy cow I went snooping at his past posts. Feel free to do the same...I probably shouldn't be mentioning about stuff like that publicly, it's not really fair to the OP when he won't see it :)
