Changing gas fire & electric hob questions

I live in a McInerney built house in an estate - it has gas fired central heating with an open flue gas fire in the living room. I hardly ever turn it on because the heat goes straight up the chimney! Could I change this out for a more efficient stove style? What kind of options do I have?

Secondly, we have electric cooker - fan oven & hob. Could we extend a pipe from the gas boiler in the utility to provide for gas cooking in the kitchen? (single oven & hob)

Trying to get an idea of options & cost so thanks for any advice!
