I feel like i need to lose about 5-6 pounds. I'm 5ft and about 7st 12lbs. I seem to carry most of my weight in my belly and face.!! Exercise is difficult for me due to a disability. I eat well enough. dont smoke, off drink for the next month and cut out all fizzy drinks. And at weekends i will be able to go for longer walks as im not in collage.

Will i see results with walking? :)

Of course. Anaerobic exercise. Try and pace yourself timewise, but don't kill yourself the first few outings.

Cutting back on dairy also helps.

As long as you're not of the mindset, "I done a 2 mile walk so I can eat this bar of chocolate without any worries". Walking burns calories but a 2 mile walk only burns in the region of 200. Your diet is 10 times more important.

On another note, you should have a look at the following website: http://www.c25k.com/. It'll have you jogging 5k's within 9 weeks which will burn even more calories and allow you to enter any of the many 5k runs that will be coming up in a few months time. This will probably provide you with more motivation than simply walking 2 miles a few times a week.

Unless she walks at a phenomenal pace and/or carries heavy loads, it'll be aerobic, not anaerobic.

The advice to cut back on dairy is pretty poor, you have no idea what the rest of her diet is like and the general avoidance of dairy foods is not something to avoid anyone of as there are associated health risks.

OP your goals seem fairly modest and walking does seem like it would get you where you want to go. I won't ask for the pun to be pardoned, I like it.

Its gonning to come down completely to diet.
2 miles isn't much at all, better than nothing but hardly going to contribute much.

A quick online cale suggests that you'll burn 119 calories walking 2 miles in 40 mins. But remember that you'll probably burn 40 or so sitting watching TV. so the benefit is one 80 calories or so, which isn't a alot.
You need to increase these deficit through adjusting your diet.
