carers allowance

my mams aunt recently had a mild stroke and my mam wants her to live with herself and my dad for a while. she works 5 days a week but would cut her hours to one or two days a week if she could but would look into applying for carers allowance

so is a stroke a condition that would make her able to claim carers allowance? or is it accessed on the patient when they leave hospital?

Make sure the public health nurse is on board before she leaves the hospital and get in touch with the carers association. They're very helpfull. You can cut your hours and still claim a little bit...i think.

You can work for a maximum of 15 hours a week.A gp has to fill in a medical report on the forms that is what the dept will go on.

The form is 24 pages long.

Just be aware that processing times can be 8 months.
