i think i am in the right section so if anyone could help that would be great

i am 23 now but in april i will be 24 and i remeber my friend telling me that if your 24 and still living at home i would be intitled to more social welfare i am currently on 101 euro a week that it would go up for 144 or the full amaount even.

how much is the full dole now anywho.

when i do turn 24 if this is true does this happen automatically or would i have to go in

i tried searching online but that welfare site is a mess.

hopefully what ive heard is throught as more money coming in would help my family.

just for laughs i thought id include this believe some day just wreck your head been on the dole

    many thanks in advance

I thought it was 25 actually. Would you not see about doing a FAS course, so you wouldn't be sitting at home? Also increases your employ-ability a marginal amount and your weekly payments go up as well I think.

You have to 25 to get the €144 AFAIK. Have you been looking for a job?

No, I'm pretty sure it's 25. As I was told if I come off BTEA now, and reapply, I won't get the full amount. And I'm 24.
Actually, just checked Citizen's Advice: http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/jobseekers_allowance.html
    Definitely 25

At 24 you go up to €144 per week age 25 €188 , again this could be subject to a means test

If you are under 25 and living at home there are two factors that may reduce your Jobseekers Allowance rate:

1 - For those between 22-24, the maximum rate of Jobseekers Allowance is 144/week (for those 18-21 it is 100 Euro/week). There are however exceptions to these maximum rates, and if they apply, then you can get the full 188 applied to your case instead of the 144. The two main exceptions are if you transferred from Jobseekers Benefit (after working) to Jobseekers Allowance, or if you have been unemployed prior to 2009 (and therefore were in previously in receipt of the higher rate). If you are 24 it is quite likely that one of these exceptions applies to you.

2 - Benefit & Privelege. For those under 25, the income of their parents is assessed. This either applies or it doesn't. Once you turn 25, if you move out, or if you have a spouse/partner also living with you, then this will cease to apply and your parent's income will not be taken into account.
