eBay non payers

Has anyone else had a lot of non paying bidders lately or in general?
I've had 4 in the past week and it's starting to do my head in!

I have the non paying bidder dispute set to open after 3 days but even out of the above 4 none of them even paid once the dispute was opened. I know it's grand that I get the final value fee credited and the item realisted but it's a pain in the neck that it keeps happening, it makes it worse knowing you can't even leave negative feedback for people doing it.

Is there anything that can be done to try weed out these time wasters?

I've had one. I had the item listed for a week, then someone bid and the day after the auction ended they messaged me to tell me they had bid on the wrong item and asked if I could cancel their bid.

I don't for one second believe she bid on the wrong item I think she either 1) Can't afford the item 2) Doesn't agree with the price of postage (I use registered post, so it's a lot more expensive than standard post) 3) They don't want the magazine.

I mean, how can you bid on a magazine for an entire week and not realise you bid on the wrong item?

I told them the only way to cancel their bid was top open an unpaid item dispute and then request to cancel the transaction. They didn't reply, but I'll open a dispute anyway. At least I'll get the final value fee back.

Thats the biggest flaw with auctions on eBay. People just place bids randomly not realising that they are entering into a contract and if they win they will actually have to pay for the item. If I ever sell on eBay I just use BuyItNow and request immediate payment.
