No sound in Cam studio

I have no sound in cam studio recording. i try to record from speaker and get waveoutgetselectcontrol failed. I do not have stereo mix. There are no disabled devices. Sound properties say microphone not plugged in. What does sthis mean. Why would i need a mike to record from the speakers.

I am on Vista and also win 7. Both give the same messages. Is there any way ti instal or download stereo mix?

You should have a stero mix option, try downloading the latest drivers for your soundcard and try again, stereo mix is usually disabled by default, so make sure to enable it

What sound card do you have? What recording options other than Mic are available?

This is my laptop Says stereo mix is disabled by sony

only mike and not plugged in. i do not have an external mike to plug in. If i get a mike would it work?

Doesn't suprise me though in the slightest Sony would do something like this, I'm guessing that all Sony do is a software disable of the Stereo Mix so look into using different drivers not downloaded from them.
If it uses a Realtek sound card for e.g try get the drivers here; or whatever the sound card manufacturers site.

Try Virtual Audio Cable out, I think its a simple solution to your issue
Edit: Just see it isn't free but try it out & see if it works

I just unzip and click start? Did not work if iam doing it right

You probably need to install it, I found it on one of the threads you linked too and a few said it worked for them, its not free unfortunately though. Have you tried another driver?

not sure what you mean tried another driver? it said my card has the latest drivers

Re installing the virtual program i did not see install option just start

What sound card is in the machine? You'd need to use something like Speccy to find this out probably. Then I may be able link you to the OEM drivers which are fairly generic, not saying this will work at all but its an avenue worth investigating.
Re the Virtual Line thing, I found it on one of the posts linked on the post you gave earlier, I've not used it but the idea sounds plausable

I used speccy and belarc advisor and all they say for sound card is "high definition audio device"

Anyway i found this program which records sound and video from the screen no hassle regarding stereo mix . Tried demo and was impressed.
