It was released here in the US last week.

I've been listening to it a lot. Well two or three times in a week but thats a lot for me. I like it, but its very mediocre. Bland even.

But, its growing on me. I've had it on in the background while I've been working. There's a lot of Eno in there.

But seriously, Snow Patrol don't belong here. You might have better luck in the Music forum.

Ouch! Not the cesspool of "music"?

Over here they qualify for "alt and Indie" just because thats where they show up in itunes.

Can't stand them , the very epitome of blandness and mediocrity.

    Confession time...
I used to like Snow Patrol. I saw them at the first two Witnness festivals (I think, anyway...) and thought the first two albums were patchy but with some good, scrappy, inoffensive, bedwetter indie rock tunes. They stick in my head as a live act because the lead singer used to look a bit simple due to the huge smile he wore constantly such was his obvious happiness at having anyone go to see them at all.
Then I heard the first single from their third album, and I thought they had released a Del Amitri song by mistake. It seems a decision was made to move their sound from lightweight indie to robustly produced stadium rock fare. This is disputed on their Wikipedia page, but unless you have wooden ears, it's obvious that changes were made to make their sound more commercially viable.

I'm not for an instant begrudging them, but I was instantly turned off by the emblandisement (that's a word, right...?). The guy does have a way with a pop hook though...

Snow patrol have been bland since 'the final straw', which was brilliant..it went to their heads i reckon..

They're not the worst IMO, far from it. Final Straw and Eyes Open are the only records I'm familiar with, mostly decent stuff but I can see where the "bland" accusations come from when they release a song like "Chasing Cars", and a few other tracks on that album too are very lame.

They did give us Iain Archer (founder member) and Tired Pony (Lightbodys side project) though, both well worth checking out.

I liked the second (?) album. When it's all over ... and the Reindeer Section stuff I liked at the time. Wouldn't find myself listening to them all that much at all now. I was a bit bored by the album after When it's all over and then just gave up.

Huh?...no idea how you can like something mediocre and bland(isnt that the very definition of Snow Patrol though?)

I second the motion to move them out of this forum, isnt there a forum for daytime radio drivel?

I bought this album and feel so cheated, it's awful. Get them out of here! Please. :)
