The album will feature ten songs, several of which were performed live by the Canadian singer-songwriter during his recent sold-out world tour.

Speaking last month while receiving the Principe de Asturias Prize for literature in Spain, the 77-year-old outlined his current mindset ahead of the new album:

"As I grew older, I understood that instructions came with this voice. And the instructions were these...Never to lament casually. And if one is to express the great inevitable defeat that awaits us all, it must be done within the strict confines of dignity & beauty."

Cohen's world-weary baritone will be complimented by American singers Dana Glover and Sharon Robinson on the record, which was recorded earlier this year. The album's cover design and drawings were produced by Cohen himself.

I keep listening to the song Darkness on his website, it's unreal! I can't wait for this album.

I think three songs have been released thus far and they're all very pleasing. Played 'Going Home' loads last week.

Love laughing Lenny, but I wonder can he still pull it out of the hat?

Its been all good press so far about the record. Also some talk of him playing live but I'm sure it won't be as long a tour as the last one as the guy is nearly 80.

You can stream it now, it's on NPR and the Guardian.

Two songs in thus far, feels like I've known the opener for a long time.

I love the way Leonard blends his deep baritone with heavenly women's voices especially as the previous poster said on 'Come Healing'. It's served him well his whole career.
