I don't think anybody here should or would be able to answer that.Your local citizens information center will do their very best to answer all your questions, tax matters are better dealt with by the revenue or a account ect.

Well if your working 24 per week and your working over 3 daays or more you wont get anything regardless. If your only working 3 days you will get JSB but thats only for a certain amount of time depending on how many "stamps" you have so far. I can tell you now with your partner working full time thats all you might get except the children allowance. The state doesn't pay peoples car tax or their insurance thats up to you and they prob won't pay for your mortgage either unless you can provide proof that you are struggling and need supplementry mortgage but thats it and that is not easy to get especially with you and your parnter working.

In a nutshell. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Okay if you are only working 2 days a week...how long have you been working 2 days a week? If this is your usual work pattern even though you may have an entitlement to jobseekers benefit you will not get this as you will be regarded as having no substantial loss... unless your wages have been decreased for the same amount of work. If you have no substantial loss of days or wages then you will have to apply for jobseekers allowance which is means tested and your partners earnings as well as your own will be calculated as means. And as you say your partner is working full time and you are working 2 x 12 hour shifts... I would think that it is highly unlikely that you would be entitled to anything on jobseekers allowance but you can still apply.

Again in view of the fact that your partner is working full time and you are also working even though it is casual it is highly unlikely that you would qualify for payment electric/gas etc but you could visit your community welfare office and apply.

I see, so, because my partner is the only full time worker bringing home less than 380 (she tells me now) we arnt entitled any help to keep our heads above water? My son starts school next year and we will probably be in the same boat, will we still be knocked on everything?

Well as you are working 2 days a week you can apply for jobseekers benefit as I already said. Please confirm if your normal working pattern is a 2 day week. Any means testing if you are only able to claim for jobseekers allowance will be means tested against your partners earnings and your earnings. See below means testing for jobseekers allowance.

Yeah 2 days per week. Going by the calculations on that page i would only be entitled to 140 euro per week. Thats not going to keep us from falling into arrears. I worked it out that we could afford my wages to drop to 280 at the very least to break even per week, thats even without saving anything.
What happens then? Is there nothing i can do to avoid this? Iv already applied to 6 places including internships and havent heard anything back from any of them.

So you are only entitled to jobseekers allowance. How long have you been working a 2 day week... why did you not apply earlier for a jsb casual claim? How much are you bringing home on the 2 day shifts. I was going to suggest that your partner could claim you tax credits not used but afaik this only applies to married couples.

I cant advise you on your work situation or applying for internships (are these internships paid or unpaid?)

Iv been working 2 days a week for 9 months now. Im not aware of a casual claim?? Im bringing home 381 euro. The internships were advertised as 50 euro on top of your social welfare payment but looking at the citizens info site even that depends on certain criteria. Its all very confusing.

As poster above you said you may be entitled to claim for fis.
    http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Publications/SW22/Pages/1WhatisFamilyIncomeSupplement.aspx

Its unlikely you will qualify for this payment in view of the fact that you and your partner bring home €761 between you.(You already stated that she brings in €380 pw). Tbh and not being smart that is a good take home pay between the two of you. If you were both on jobseekers the maximum amount you would be getting is €340 approx... ok you would qualify for a medical card and rent allowance/mortgage interest supplement . From what you have stated so far about your earnings it is unlikely that you would qualify for a medical card. Do you claim at the end of the year you medical bills e.g. doctors visits, prescriptions from revenue?

In order to qualify for jobbridge internship you have to be in payment for 78 days of sw payment.

Its getting late Im off to bed if you want anymore info pm me.

Thanks for all your help, i know there is nothing wrong with our wage im just trying to plan ahead to february to prevent us getting into difficulty. With more bills being introduced and the little fella starting school id like to know where ill be in two months time, i think proactive is the word im looking for :-)
iv never been in a position that iv had to look into these things before so this is all completely new, iv never claimed for medical expenses and only recently found out you can get tax back on your wheelie bin charges?? Its mind boggling.

The refuse collection tax credit has been done away with for 2012 :(
AFAIK you can claim up to 4 years back for meds, doctors visits and the refuse collection credit.

If you become unemployed in February you can claim jobseekers benefit and from the info provided you should get the maximum personal rate of €188 pw for either 234 days or 312 days depending on the amount of total contributions you have.
