Was looking at this seems like a good deal anybody have any toughts is it ready to go out of the box, I heard G&p hop units are not great is this true as the reason for buying m16 instaed of another m4 is the longer barrel for range and accuracy.Or if anybody has any other sugestions.

Real gun = longer barrel means more accuracy because of the increased spinning speed of the bullet

Airsoft = After a certain amount longer barrel = less accurate - Why?
    A) The BB bounces down the barrel, the distance between each hit increases with length and thus makes it less accurate leaving the barrel.

    B) The barrel length is determined by the size of the cylinder, the more airspace the bigger the barrel, there is a suitable ratio, if you do not follow it the bb slows down enough so that it actually starts to lose energy before it leaves the barrel.

And the other thing - tighter isn't better for tight bore barrels. Yes the groupings may improve marginally but in airsoft there is always inconstancies. Because of this and wind etc. we can never get amazing groupings at range, so the pain of having a 6.01 is pointless when you can use a 6.03 which is much easier (less jams, cleaning etc.) and you'l actually increase your range very slightly.

And yes, a G&P m16 is a good gun, but it depends where you play, if indoors it'll be very unwieldy. And yes, just through a guarder rubber in there, or if your feeling more lavish a nice PDI one.

Technically yes, it'll be more unwieldy than a submachine gun, bull-pup, pistol, etc. But with everything, it depends on how you use it. It is perfectly feasible and possible to outmatch someone with a shorter gun in CQB; I've skirmished with an m1 Garand against people with stubby thrillers and not fared too bad. My last game out, I took an m60 (full length) through a timed "kill-house" for a laugh and came out with the second fastest time on the day (with a thirty second time penalty for a goof up) at 3:10.

End of the day, if you like the look of a particular gun, go for it. Everything has its limitations, including shorties! You just have to work with whatever the limitations are
