07 Navara questions?

    hi,
i have an 07 navara for a few months now, and everywhere i go, people are scaring the **** out of me regarding timing chain problems leading to conrods exiting the engine, in a very expensive way!
anybody got any real tips here on preventing this or at least telltale signs?

i have also changed the tyres recently to BFG AT's, and they're fine but for one thing, although i'm not too sure its their fault. over the last two months the fuel economy has gone up from 9.8l/100km to 11.1l/100km!
i'm almost sure when they went on i seen a 0.3l/100km increase for a week or two, but then the fuel on OBC went up as i said to 11.1. now i'm not that mean, so don't start with the insults, but if this is an indicator of something coming down the line, i'd like to know if you get me? what else could cause this? when i bought her, she had been serviced 3 times up to the 80k she was at on arrival, i then serviced again and since at 12k interval. but this made no dent into the increased fuel.

    any ideas?

    any help appreciated!

    ed

What pressure are you running the BFG's at? Pressure is important for rolling resistance.
If you are running them low they will use more fuel for sure

You are correct, its the D22 model that has the conrod issues. Haven't heard of any issues with the timing chain, the D22 had a recall on the tensioning system. There is great info at www.nissan-navara.net . As far as fuel economy, do as CJ recommends and check tyre pressure. What tyres were on it before? The BF Goodrich AT's are a lot more aggressive than most road going tyres and you will lose a little fuel economy with them.
