non is brave enough as the note is an unconventional gadget
they are all waiting for the other to throw the first stone

A bit off topic but I'm in Thailand at the moment and this is being advertised pretty well on the satellite stations.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwMvhwPPfDc

This ad is way better than the crappy ads we seem to get back in Ireland for Android devices.

Im sure it will arrive to Ireland soon. I got it on amazon.de few weeks ago...
I think that service providers were afraid of size of this device but samsung sells tones of these phones and others are surprised...

yeah, i ordered the note back in december from simplyelectronics for €510. That was almost 2 months ago. Delivery was supposed to be within 5-7 working days.

Long story short, they told me i should either cancel my order and re-order it for €600 (the new jacked-up price) or wait another month for them to fix and deliver my original order (because it was supposedly damaged)

Anyway i cancelled my order, an I'm currently waiting for a refund.
I was thinking of buying from phonesonline.ie, does anyone have any experience with them?

It's either them or wait for the SG2 HD LTE to be released over here

o yeah...i ordered from these fvckers too...They got money from paypal within a minutes and I didnt get any confirmation or delivery details. After few days, I check google and......there are hundreds of people complaining and moaning. straight a way I went ono paypal and opened dispute against them, after 2-3 days they refunded money. I ordered note on amazon.de and got it after 3 days!

yeah, i wouldn't have minded waiting 2-3 weeks, but waiting a effin month and then being told to either wait another month, or pay an extra €100....assholes

anyway, should i go with phonesonline.ie? anyone have any experience with them,

if not, i was thinking amazon.de, although I've heard a few complaints about dead & burnt pixels from them.

    Advice anyone?

(although i would rather get it somewhere in ireland, tbh)

My girlfriend bought me a phone through phonesonline and she said they were fine. This was after an issue with a phone not being in the box from pixmania! Horrendous company.

Im looking for the Note too and phonesonline seem to be the only real option now.

Is the price of the note on amazon.de not the same as the others now? I thought it went up to match?

just looking at amazon.de now, there's a few notes from €507.87 upwards
    although i think i'll stick to phonesonline.ie

    here's a linky http://www.amazon.de/gp/offer-listing/B005SYZ4SQ/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1327865630&sr=8-1&condition=new

anyone considering ordering from simply electronics, do NOT let their (amazing) sales & customer services reps lure you in, they're worse than venus flytraps..damn sweet-talkin b*st*rds

Get a few more people who have used that site first to confirm they are ok, Ive only had one experience with them. Maybe give them a call and see what their shipping policy is etc

phonesonline.ie? they're based in greystones, wicklow, so I'm not too worried as i can chase them up if anything goes wrong,

although my guess is that they are just buying them in from amazon for 510 and selling for 620...in that case i would still have burnt pixel problems :(

what do you think i should do?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 463 ✭✭circos

They do get them in from other suppliers so its hard to tell. I wouldn't expect it within the shipping time-frame either as id say they order as per purchase.

Ill let you do it first :)

yeah, considering there's no suppliers in ireland..
hmm, pay €510 and get burnt pixels...OR...pay €620 and risk getting burnt pixels

I'm not to worried about them ordering as per purchase, as i've been reading a few reviews of them, and they seem to deliver within timeframe

I'll probably chance them, but probably won't be ordering till thurs/fri depending on when i get refunded..

so if you order before then tell me how it goes ;)

Vodafone Ireland will start selling the Samsung Galaxy Note in early March. It's disgraceful how Ireland's mobile networks lack any decent phones. Finally, 4 months after the Note's official release it's eventually coming to Ireland. Samsung have also promised an Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Note which is definitely an added bonus.

ICS+ touchwiz=cr@p anyway, nothing to wait for from ui point of view.. I would love to have basic ics on my current note. At the moment I use go launcher.

Ice Cream Sandwich alone would be amazing. Hate when phone companies go messing up their software. It's still a pretty amazing device though. Just a random question, you have any problems with dead pixels? I'm taking it that you own a Note, or did I misunderstand?

nah I'm getting one, I ordered one from simplyelectronics in the start of december, still havn't recieved it, so i cancelled my order last week,

once i get my refund, I'll order from phonesonline.ie

anyway i heard that a batch of notes being sold on amazon contained burnt pixels so

I'm wondering if i should pay €500 and get burnt pixels from amazon

    OR

pay €600 and RISK getting burnt pixels
(assuming that simplyelectronics get their stock from amazon)

by the way, how long do yous think would be the acceptable time to wait for a refund before taking action

its been a week now and I'm getting worried

    unlocked and simm free..

@Jamez735 Do all the Notes from amazon have burnt pixels? Surely it can't be limited to just amazon Notes? For the refund I'd say a week and a half at most. They might not do returns at the weekend, I know some company's do. Why don't you try Amazon.de? They're pretty cheap and there's no hidden extras as far as I know. All you have to pay for is postage.

I don't think I'd even consider buying the Note (or any other phone) from Vodafone. They're getting a bad reputation for their sky high prices. €65 a month for 500 texts, 500 mins and 1GB of data. Absolute rip off. 3 Ireland offer free calls to all networks at the weekend, unlimited texts, unlimited 3 to 3 calls and unlimited data, all for €20 a month on prepay. Clearly 3 is the better option as it's far cheaper and you're tied down to no contract. My advice, steer clear from Vodafone if you want to save some money.

Hey, just an update, got my galaxy note today from www.phonesonline.ie. Took only 2 days to get delivered. No hassle whatsoever. Would recommend them.

That may be true but I've heard far too many horror stories with 3 to ever consider them as a serious operator. "You get what you pay for" comes to mind, but nonetheless I do agree that Vodafone's pricing is ridiculous.

No, no dead pixels at all... I got mine from Amazon.de. The best phone I had so far (desire, desire hd, iPhone 4,sensation)

    credit card,

its ridiculous really, i should have had the note in early december, I would have been one of the first people in ireland to own one, :(

at this point, im not even sure if i want it,

the note was the best phone 6 months ago, but now others are emerging

.....who am i kidding, I LOVE the note, but i just want it NOWWW :(

anyway, i emailed the again and they replied

    Dear James,
Thank you for sending us an email regarding this matter.
I understand your sense of urgency regarding the refund; however, this case is still being looked at by our relevant department. They are following certain guidelines in handling refund requests and thus could not process it immediately. Refunds are on a case to case basis. Some may take longer than our usual processing time. I can assure you that we our doing everything we can to speed up the process.
Your extended patience is highly appreciated.

    what do yous think

Looks like they're timewasting, probably hoping you'll forget about it and give up.

If you paid by paypal lodge a dispute(60day limit so get on it), that'll speed things up(in the past I've got my money back within hours doing this).

If its the CC company, give customer service a call and seek their advice. They want your business and try to combat customer fears regarding internet shopping so they're usually quite helpful.

Totally ridiculous that they have kept you waiting this long!! The way that is written it looks like you got the Note and sent it back and they are now taking their sweet time in deciding to refund you or not!! They never delivered the item to you so I would not wait a minute longer.... threaten them with court proceedings or whatever.

    Cheers,
    M

The best course of action would be to get in touch with your cc company (visa/mastercard etc) and raise a dispute with that transaction as you haven't received goods and monies haven't been refunded..they will take up the issue with simply electronics

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,301 ✭✭✭The One Who Knocks

thanks guys, ill give them till friday, then call cc company,

    also, quick question for ya's

i ordered something last may and never recieved it, the company shut down because the owner died of cancer,

now the company is non existant, and neither is the owner,

it only cost 30 euro, but is there anything i can do to get it back?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,301 ✭✭✭The One Who Knocks

right, this is a bloody disgrace

    rang simplyelectronics today

they said they'd check out why i haven't been refunded yet, and get back to me sometime next week.

    I'm taking action,

    Ringing CC company now,

before i do though, does anyone know if they can get the money back for me immediately , (i know paypal can)

whats the fastest way to get my money back if CC company is too slow? threaten with court?

    :(

I got my money refunded once just by calling up the cc company and asking them to do a reversal. They then take it up with the company. You have a a lot more sway with a credit card.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,301 ✭✭✭The One Who Knocks

Quick update, rang CC company & they said to post them a letter containing any communications between me & simplyelectronics, and then they could deal with it,

If I post the letter today, does anyone have any idea of the timeframe it takes to get my money back?

Simply electronics did say they'd get back to me this week with an update, (3 weeks after asking for a refund) so I'm wondering if it'd be faster just to wait, instead of going through the CC company.
