Hey, I had HK416 and now i have M4 and well it's not a big problem like but it irritates me not knowing that it's for :D There is basically like a button near Stock, or near hop up chamber opening lever. I pressed it like 20 times and nothing changes, is it just for visual? or does it actually do anything important?

It would be the forward assist on the real rifle, has no function on most airsoft guns.

In some G&G M4 models it releases the spring tension, but other than that It's just for show.

that button as stated releases the spring if your battery dies and the spring is compressed at the time. On the real m4 this button has a similar function when firing and the last round is fired the inner working or bolt will remain back when a fresh mag is inserted into the weapon that button is pushed and it will send the bolt forward inserting a round in the breach ready to fire.

On the real M4/AR15's and GBB M4's the forward assist helps to push the bolt forward if it jams, the part inside pushes against the serrations on the side of the bolt making it move forward

It's the bolt catch that locks the bolt back after the last round is fired, and pressing it releases the bolt forward when a new mag is in,

But in some AEG's it releases the spring tension and in some it has no function

on the real M4 rifle the forward assist button helps un-jam the rifle incase it... well jams :P, like the name suggests it aids in pushing the round/bolt, in airsoft it has no function other than relieving spring tension on some AEG's like the G&G Raider. In a RS it doens't hold the bolt back as this is done automatically when the last round is fired off, meaning a new mag just has to be inserted and the bolt will chamber the next round once the bolt release is clicked, unless there was still a round in the rifle when it was reloaded in which case nothing needs to be done, other than pull the trigger.
