Why did you post this in the Paranormal forum? Do you have an idea yourself of what was spooking the animals? And if so, what connection is there to the paranormal?

It could have been the smell of some other animal that was there recently that neither your horse or dogs are that used to, eg. maybe a pig or an ostrich that got loose.

After all paranormal means "experiences that lie outside "the range of normal experience or scientific explanation" and the above is not a normal experience for me.

Technically yes, but in normal language it means ghosts and ghoulies. Do you have a suspicion there may be something ghostly there?

Once again someone comes onto this site to look for help , and is met with the same unhelpful and spiteful attitude as before .

As regards your story , where i'm from , quite literally about 10 seconds from my mothetrs house is a group of shops. My dog uused to walk by them all the time , has never been out on her own so wouldnt have had a bad experience as such there . There is a road that goes around the shop , and she will go around that no problem , but if I try to get her to walk to the right off that road towards the shops she gets terrified, winges , growls , and tries to run really fast from the exact same spot everytime . Even If i'm walking her around the block and coming out the right side of the shops , she bolts soon as she gets near that spot , and runs into her bed .

ANY ideas? I will not go there again, that's for sure but there must be a logical explanation?
Is the path/location on Google maps?

Where else should I have posted it since I have no explanation and by reading some of the posts here, peeps on here are very good with logical explanations which I may have missed.

you could also post it in animals & pet issues or nature & birdwatching if you'd like to get a different explanation/theory to this incident

also, have you asked any of the locals about this area? is it privately owned? has anything happened there in the past??

the one thing that would make me think maybe it is not anything paranormal is the fact that it was the same the next day. If there was a anything there, what are the chances it was still hanging around later on?

I think the more likely thing would be some form of environmental radiation or even some form of infrasound that the animals are aware of (and uncomfortable with) that we as humans cant detect.

People can post whatever they want here without having to justify their reasons, or whether its 'really' paranormal.

Or it could be paranormal. When I worked as an archaeologist I would often spend a lot of time with rural communities. I was amazed at how many road (bohereens in particular not buildings) were not walked by the locals after dark as a result of known paranormal activity, bad luck or hauntings.

It was very difficult to get locals to talk about these things (probably because they think jackeens will take the piss) but almost all of the bohereens pre-date the famine and continue in use today. I love the stories associated with them.

You could ask the local community, especially the older members of the community of any known stories about that part of the road in particular. If you send me on the details privately I might be able to find out something for you. I often walk a bohereen in Moycullen and if you look into the fields beside you can see the remains of prefamine villages.

If you want more information have a look at the 1838 maps available on www.archaeology.ie or google "Clachan and Rundale" settlements.

After about 2 miles we came to a bend in the road. He stopped dead, started snorting, side-stepped, would NOT go a step further, even started rearing when I urged him on and then he started sweating.

could you post a pic of this precise spot, so we can get an idea of the place

Indeed'in they can. I'm only trying to help. But its just that the Op seems to want this to be a paranormal explanation - not very conducive to solving her problem.

where would you suggest EGAR post then? Paranormal seems like a suitable enough forum for tackling this one to me.

Animals and pets. Or maybe even the regional forum for her area.

Animals and Pets?? Are you serious? Have you read some of the posts there? As I said, I know my animals and I know their reactions. This was a waste of time posting here, I did not think I would get patronised by a mug and a fry up .

Thank you to those who have tried to shed some light onto this with proper replies.

I will not be posting here anymore.

Whats with all the hostility? I'm only trying to help! And as for animals and pets, YES, I am dead serious! Or maybe the farming and forestry forum. You dont know everything there is to know about animals, its worth a try! Now I have to respond to your question the way you did to mine - Paranormal, are you serious?

newmug you are breaking the charter. Please read it before posting again or youll end up saying banned? Are you serious?

EGAR your post is a really interesting one. Not saying its because of something spooky but I really would love to know what caused that reaction. I hope you do post again because I want to know if you go back. What is the landscape like where this happened?

As an additional mod note, the op of this thread has been so put off by the reaction to it that they have deleted their post. That is not the way this forum works and not what I want to see happening. You DO NOT harangue posters here over their reasoning for submitting anything here. To those who did, bans will follow if it happens anywhere in the forum again.

That is exactly what I have been saying form the last few weeks , it's a disgrace how posters are treated on this page , and i've made my opinion of that very public

What can i say about this thread but going by the info given by EGAR, before going the paranormal rout, i too would suggest speaking to animals and pets people just to get their opinions. I am not sure about Horses, but i would also speak to dog behavourist again just to get their opinions on this as you mentioned you know your dogs but it doesnt hurt to ask around. I would love to hear how you get on with that. My partner is a dog behaviourist and Vet nurse. Will ask her this evening what she suggests.

I went to a place in which i was told dogs were scared of. This place is concidered to be haunted. The did allow me to bring my dogs. Unfortunately nothing happened.

What you could also look at is the land itself. Maybe it was seismic ?? ? I dont know how to test that, but check this out here ...........

Paranormalwise and going by the info given there is not much more i can say ???
