hi, is it possible to fit a 1.9 diesel engine in a nissan kubistar which has the 1.5dci engine as standard, this is the second 1.5 dci fitted to this van and they are rubbish both blew
but a mechanic says to put 1.9 renault/peugeot engine in it and it will drive fine too.

What caused the 1.5's to fail? The 1.5dci is a Renault engine anyway and there is no Renault/Peugeot 1.9 engine. Only a Renault one. Peugeot have nothing to do with Renault.

All the electronics and fittings etc would be different on on a 1.9 compared to the 1.5 so it would cost more to do properly then the van is likely to be worth.

hi, First time engine just blew and recently injectors and pump and started to overheat too
this time will be the third engine in 16 months.

Anyway the mechanic said he fitted 1.9 straight diesel in before from a 02 renault kangoo but E/M dash light remains on but driving the best and still going by all accounts and was alot cheaper than the of 1.5dci( these are expensive as hard to get as give lots of trouble its seems)
seen quite a few online all with engine trouble

I get the impression that changing engines won't fix the problems:eek:

ok thanks but wonder would it work so it would drive ok, wouldnt worry about the light so long as it goes.
an 1.5 dci engine is approx between €650-€900 some looking a grand depending on miles and than you not really sure what you got at that with some only giving a week warranty on them.

can get a 1.9 diesel for around €150 dont seem to give that much trouble these
