Android tablet, no market

    Hi all,

A friend of the missus got a cheap android tablet from China, and surprise surprise it has no marketplace. So she cannot download any apps. I've tried going through the market website but because there isn't a market app on the tablet it's not possible to log her in and download from there.

Anyone any ideas on how to get the market app onto this thing? I've tried downloading a few. I found one link online for "vending_2_2_11.apk" but it won't install. As it's not mine, I don't want to flash the thing.

Does anyone have any ideas that could help me on this?

I'm guessing its simply not market compatible, if its on 2.2/2.3 and has no cellular radio then its not market compatible.

    It's running 2.1.

He/she could always go through appbrain or androlib? appbrain would probably be the best considering its alternative offering to the market itself in terms of sync and updating.

Although, there is a risk that a lot of apps won't work on the tablet he/she bought..

    try using aptoide
    http://aptoide.com/cli_install.html

It may be difficult to get the vending.apk onto the tablet tbh. You need mroe than just the vending.apk -- googleservicesframework.apk for example.

But as mentioned the apps may not be compatible with the device.

You could possibly root the device and put on your own mod but thats beyond the scope of this discussion.

    Good luck

I installed this on an Archos that only has the Applib market and it works fine

    http://www.1mobile.com/app/market/

worth a shot if you just want to get apps downloaded.

This installed fine, but when I try to install apps I get "download unsuccessful". I think it might be an available storage issue. Gotta get my hands on a SD card.

    What's the error message?
    Is it "google authentification failed"?

I had the same problem, you probably have a generic tablet with an uploaded version of the Google market. Easy to fix the problem however...follow these easy steps Go to Settings->Applications->Manage->Running - Click Market - Then Clear Cache (NOT CLEAR DATA!!!!) - Then Force Stop - Click Google Services Framework - Click Clear Data - Click Force Stop

Open Android Market (it will error this is GOOD!)

Shutdown and Restart the tablet - Wait for Wireless to Kick In - Wait for System to Finish Loading

Open Android Market - If it opens without an error GREAT! - If it opens with the same error... give it a couple minutes or multiple tries at opening (it will go through) - You may want to just wait for it to tell you there are updates in the Market
