    Hi there,

There was an Omega in Clonmel, Co Tipperary for sale a few weeks ago on donedeal for E200 .

Did anybody on here buy it? Just wondering was it a good buy? I couldn't get to it on time.

    Thanks

It belonged to the guys dead uncle and was being sold without straps etc.

Went very quick, but who knows if it was a fake or not. I live 20 miles from Clonmel but was in Cork that weekend. I always figure no harm in taking a look, can always walk away.

Maybe there should be a sticky on here on spotting fakes etc.

The thing is T, the how to spot a fake debate is huge. Yea we have the obvious quartz Rolex for a tenner yokes which are easy, some ain't so easy. We've had threads posts pointing them out in the past alright and if anyone is considering buying and puts up a link here you can be sure a few will chime in. Try holding them back :D

200 quid for a basic vintage Omega from say the 50's or 60's would be about right. I've seen some go for half that. On the other hand specific models from the same era could go for near 6,000 or more. You can get lucky, if you know what you're looking for. Or even if you don't. I knew a guy with no clue nor real interest in watches who picked up a rare pre moon, omega speedmaster for 20 quid at a house auction. It was in a box of general junk and he just liked the look of it.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
