Breitling running fast

    Hi all,

I have a Breitling Steelfish that has started to run fast ever since I adjusted the date mid last year. Gains about 4-5 mins over a 1 1/2 to 2 week period I think.

I moved the date on to the 1st of the next month but didn't follow any procedure when doing it.

I take off the watch every night before bed and can leave it off and let it stop for a few days if that will help any (I have another watch I can use).

I vaguely remember the store telling me to set the hands to 4:30, then set the date to day before date, then advance the hands until the corect date was set, then set correct time. But this was for a watch that had stopped for many days I think.

Does anybody know what can be done here to correct this?

    Thanks

How old is the watch? I could be wrong, but I wouldn't think that adjusting the date at the wrong time would have any effect on timekeeping. Might mess up the date change mechanism, but even that would be unlikely. Sounds to me like the watch might need a service, or maybe just regulation.

Watch is 2 years old and hasn't been serviced yet. Kind of annoying this. You'd expect to run slow but fast is crazy. My older one (Ocean) ran slow so traded it in for the new one, but that watch was over 10 years old.

I guess it's time to send it in.

    Thanks

It shouldn't need a full service if it's only 2 years old. Try bringing it to somewhere like Dawson Jewellers and ask them to regulate it. Shouldn't cost much. Then, if it's still running fast, have it serviced. Like many on here, I've had good dealings with Emily at watchrepairs.ie

Yes, if I had known about Emily, I wouldn't have traded in the old one.

    Thanks
