HTC Desire | Mobile Internet not working

    Hi folks,

I recently downloaded/upgraded the op system on my HTC desire. I had the upgrade downloaded two days ago and a pop up appeared yesterday evening asking me to install. I noticed around that time (before the install) that when I went to turn on the mobile internet it would just fail to work. The switch turns green and appears as if it was switched on, but the icon on the top bar would not appear and I cannot access the web.

Wifi works fine and I have full signal.

Under Wireless & Networks >> Mobile network >> Network mode reads "GSM.WCDMA auto". I've changed this to all other possible values and still the same result.

I've turned it off, removed the sim card and battery but with no joy.

    Any ideas?

Do you still have values under "Access Point Names"?

Is "Settings > Wirelsss & Networks > Mobile network" checked?

Does your provider have an online account management system so you can see if they are blocking access to data there? (The update could have been a coincidence and they could have screwed up)

You fixed it! I know you're probably not going to believe me but I just went to this screen and the 3G icon appeared on the bar. When I pressed back straight away it disappeared!!!

When I went back in and left it, and pressed back it stayed that time and I now have connectivity.

    Thanks

I'm not going to take credit for that ... who am I kidding yes I am.

Glad you got it working, it can be frustrating especially when something works when you appear to do "nothing" i.e. clicking into that sub menu should not fix the problem but somehow it did, so there is no way of diagnosing what the problem was.
