    No Pics visible?

Age/model year (pic should tell), usage/milage? Any damage ?

    Hi there,

    Sorry forgot to attach pic(s)

Here is one I have on my phone which will give you an idea of year etc. Not a great pic but I can send on more if anyone is interested.

Was bought in 2009 and only used for the second half of 2009 and early summer 2010 as my wife kindly allowed me buy another bike for my 40th in 2010. I also have another bike complete for mudguards etc which I use in the winter or on wet days so the bike hasn’t seen more than 3-4,000 mainly dry miles, and even less on the wheels as I was using a pair of Mavic Cosmics for most of the time I rode the bike.

Bar one surface scratch about 2 cm long on the front fork, and other v small mark / chip near the BB the bike is unmarked and was never crashed etc.

Also relevant (although hopefully you will never need it) is the fact that frame and forks are covered by a 5 year warranty from 2009, so is still under warranty. The bike was bought a local shop who if needed / if a deal is being done can confirm this.

    Hi,

    I have a few questions:

Can you give more details of the cassette and chainset spec?

Was it purchased under the Bike to Work scheme?

    Cheers!

    @ MAntoD

Hi there, it is a standard 53/39 chainset. From memory the cassette is 12-26, but I will have to check either way I can change that if you wish – I have various cassettes ranging from 11-21 to 13-29 and every thing in between, so that can be easily changed if you want. If the (brand new) standard chainset is a deal breaker for you – I can look at swapping that out for a compact as well but that might affect the price at which we can do a deal (assuming we do …)

The bike was not purchased under the BTW scheme – it was too expensive, at the time c.treble the BTW allowance (admittedly with the cosmics), but proof of purchase can be supplied if that is a concern for you.

    Hope that helps

No that's grand, I was worried that it might be a compact. If you have a range of cassettes, do you have an 11-25? Are the crank arms 170mm yeah?

Edit: what size in cm is the frame exactly?

    @ MAntoD

Unfortunatly – I don’t have such a cassette - I have 12-25 which in my experience should be plenty – 53x12 is big gear. That said if you prefer to have an 11 I have had a quick trawl thru the internet and you can pick up Campag 10 speed cassettes from about €40. CRC have Veloce for about 45

Re the cranks, yes they are 170mm

RE the frame – the seat tube measures 470mm from Centre to Centre or 510mm from centre to top (The Top Tube slopes)

    The top tube measures 530mm

I have a table with the full geometry but can’t seem to attach it here so let me know if you have more Qs re sizing etc

Sure you could prob stick with the 12-26 then. May need the 26 for the hills :-P

Are all the components bar the chainset original? (sorry for all the questions)

On price, I'd be willing to offer €750 considering it's 3 years old and I could spend a few quid over €999 for a new, full carbon, 105 setup in my lbs.

Could we organise a viewing sometime this week? I'm free on Friday and Sunday.

    Cheers,

    Anto

    Anto,

Thanks for the offer, but it is a bit on the low side - yes the bike is a couple of years old but I have allowed for that already, when I priced the bike.

Even leaving aside the age old campag vs shimano debate comparing Campag Centaur and 105 is not fair - Campag Centaur is more comparable with Ultegra if not more possibly better. A friend of mine has ridden the Ras on an identical bike, so that will confirm that it is a good bike, also read some of the reviews on the Ridley - it very a well rated / above entry bike - there are many types / grade of carbon so to be fair you need to ensure you comparing like with like - the attached BikeRadar review rated the Ridley very well.

Also bear in mind that the wheels are practically unused / like new, as I used my Cosmics rather than the Campag Wheels (purely a personal choice as I love the noise the cosmics make :-) ).

Also relevant the fact that this bike has pedals - as far as I know any new bike in this league is usually supplied without pedals which will cost you another c. €50 - plus the fact that I recently spent c.€75 on a new chain and cables.

With that in mind can we meet half way - say €875 and I'll arrange a viewing / test ride in the coming days - once you have ridden the bike will appreciate it for how good it is.

So it's the 07 model? In that case I wouldn't be willing to spend that kind of money on a bike that's effectively 5 years old.

The wheels are good quality, no doubt. However, centaur vs 105 5700 is, I think, a fair comparison.

Can you confirm weather or not it is the 07 or this

    http://m.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/road/product/orion-09-33037/

    09 model?

As previously stated the bike was purchased brand new in 2009 - so it is not a 2007 bike nor is it 5 years old - my bike / frame is exactly the same as the one in the link you posted other than the colour - When I bought it I had the choice of black or white as pictured - I chose black purely because I preferred the look of it.

The spec is different to the link because I like campag so chose to buy the frameset and other bits separately and have my LBS build it up for me. Hope this clarifies matters for you.

Ok, the link you put up was of the 07 bike - hence the confusion. Would you go to €800 pending inspection?

850 is the lowest I can go - look lets meet up, and you can have a look at it and if it's not what you want you or as good as I say can walk away, with nothing invested other than your time

I can travel to meet you as well if that helps (within reason !!!)

I think €800 is fair but I'll have a look at it anyhow. Pm sent
