    Hi Lads/Lassies

We are closing down the studio this month. It's been a good run over the last few years. Thanks to everyone who supported us. I am posting this because I'm looking for one last plug. We need to sell everything we have. If you know anyone who might be interested in some cheap gear, we're selling everything off next Saturday 14/01/12

http://pdfcast.org/download/hoop-music.pdf The link will take you to a full gear list with photos.

    Cheers!

Is it a financial or personal decision to close? Times are tough. Anything to share for current/future studio owners on your experience?

Thanks danjokill, we are not holding any gear for anyone. Everything is for sale on Saturday. If there are stands left afterward, I will let you know.

Hi frobisher, it's a little of both. As you say times are tough. We have worked very hard over the last few years to keep the place going, to the detriment of our personal lives. My advice is to keep your overheads (rent etc) as low as possible. In the end, our high overheads meant that making money was too difficult to maintain.

You should have mothballed the enterprise, and gone looking for cheap space.

Over the next few years, rents are going rocket down - as there's just way too much space, and no one to rent it. Landlords are still chancing their arms - and NAMA are trying to pretend there is no bleedin' demand for half the stuff they have on their books.

Good luck in your future endeavours.

Just wait..........I live in Dublin City centre, and you'd may or may not be amazed by how much "empty" space there is.

NAMA are f'ing around. The book value of a lot of the properties they have is based on their potential rent - there's no one to rent them out - as long as they don't drop the rent and let them out, on paper they're worth more than they really are worth.

This includes old building too, that were bought by Irish "bucket and shovel" bolloxes who the bank manager liked.

There is amazing space in the city. As of the minute most of it is empty.

Possibly.....The music production community needs to get to gether, form a paramilitary organisation, and seize some of these spaces from government forces.

I've added a google map of the rough area. It's not on the map unfortunately. From Maynooth continue along the Moylgare road. Straight through the crossroad for dunboyne. After several sharp bends you will see a small lane on the left hand side of a right hand bend. There will be signs on this lane directing you where to go. Call Ian on 086 1955186 for directions on the day.
