External Harddrive for Non-techie

    Hi,
was hoping someone of the Techie persuasion could help me out, I'm looking to buy an external hard-drive, it's mainly for word doc's - thesis material etc, but I would probably be putting pictures, tv series etc onto it aswell (if I get that far). Any recommendations for a reasonably priced hard-drive that is reliable, i.e. lasts more than two years? (I've heard horror stories of them crashing). I would most likely be backing up files from more than one laptop / pc, does that affect what I should be buying? Sorry if this seems like such an obvious issue.
    Thanks for any help :)

If you are backing up material you've created yourself, e.g. thesis, pics, video, consider an online backup solution as well. Hard disks can and do fail, or get stolen etc.

Argos, PC World, Maplins, Peats, Elara.ie, Memoryc.ie, etc. Loads of places you can get em :)

We find Elara to be very competitive. Be aware that hard drive prices are through the roof due to a worldwide lack of them.

I'd advise to get a 2.5" rather than 3.5" as the 3.5" have power circuits that tend to fail.

    Good luck
