Take SGSII upgrade now or wait?

Hi all, I have an SGS from Three. Currently due an upgrade and have been offered an SGSII at a reasonable rate.

A month ago I would have snapped it up but I bought a HP Touchpad over Xmas and have Android running on it. As such I find myself using my phone less and less at home and mostly for GPS and checking email outside of home. As such I'm wondering if I should just hold off and wait for something brand new rather than the year old SGSII.

That said I do like new gadgets so if the SGSII on ICS would stand up with the best of them for another year or so I'd just go with it now.

    Thanks for reading.

from my experience, new top-end phones get announced around feb/march, released around arpil/may and become available on irish networks around june/july

the main reason i would suggest holding off for a little while is that if you like to upgrade, then a contract starting around this time of year means you will always be going for the previous model.

ics on the sgs2 should be as good as the best of them (as it is the best of them :p) and it will still be a high end phone (just not as high end as before) when the next wave launches.

depending on the contract you are on it may be worth looking at sim only plans on other networks and just get your SGS unlocked

I'm pretty happy with the contract and service to be honest and would be happy to renew it, getting absolutely everything I need from within the fixed price plan cost so no interest moving network.
