So I transfered my domain name http://www.befunkey.net to a new host but it doesn't work when I don't use the www. like so http://befunkey.net

The advice I got off my host was to create a new CNAME for it in the DNS Zone but to no avail and to be honest the last time I emailed them with a problem they weren't very much help with it at all so I'm just wondering has anyone ever dealt with this before? Most of the links to my website around the internet are set with the www. and I'd hate to lose all that traffic

Google 'How to 301 Redirect Non-WWW to WWW URLs'

What TD said, or just ask your host. They should either do it, or link you to instructions on how to do it in their system - this is a frequent request for them.

The 301 redirect won't work if the "domain.com" without the www isn't already pointing to the server.

Are you sure you've set up the CNAME correctly?

Is that a real domain name? If not, what is it so we can check out the DNS records and tell you what you need to do.

    +1 to that.

That's what I was thinking also.
