Build a wall between two townhouses

We are thinking of building a small wall to mark the boundary between ourselves (an end of 4 townshouse) and our next door neighbour, there are no boundary walls at the front of our houses at all, just a footpath, small lawn and then parking spaces, although some of the other houses on the development were built with the walls in place.

The house next door have children and they often gather with their friends immediately outside our front door or under our kitchen window, so its mainly to create a private space at the front of our house

Has anyone experience of being the first to separate what looks like a communal green area / parking spaces - just not sure whether or not we are entitled to do it, do we have to get pp or just a verbal OK from the neighbour?

    thanks a mil

    Depends on several factors
    • When was the houses built?
    • Is there a Management company?
    • Does the original planning permission have anything to say about this.

You might not actually own the front garden, it might be "common space".
