So I've been told lately that the local post has been reporting people that are minding kids in there home. Since than the hse and other groups have called out to these people. They where given a list of stuff that they have a to to make the house more child friendly. But a number of them of them have stopped minding the kids since as they feel it's not worth it. One of the women had just lost her husband and she found the kids kept her mind off things. This was many of the women's only income.

What I want to is what would you do if you found your post reported you. Would you just let it be.

So essentially people are running creches cash in hand, and the postman copped this, was alarmed at how dangerous the house was for children, reported it, and the HSE sent out a letter asking the people to make the house safer (rather than Revenue sending out someone to find out why there's no income being declared!?) and then these people decided to give up their childminding because they don't want to spend money making their makeshift creche safe...

    Right...

You obviously don't know any postmen - that would be too much work for them to do, and they would have to consult with the unions before taking on additional work and they would have to get paid overtime for doing so:D

Be prepared to hear more of these stories in 2012.

A worried and suspicious populace fearing for the future, some will believe any old crap.

Last night "Men In Black" was on and this quote struck me as particularly apt:

"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals, and you know it."

You did not need to use "So" at the start of your post. I am trying to have this stamped out on Boards.

It's not going well. But your usage is actually quite acceptable since it is in response to an argument not starting one.

I see it as a really good thing if the posties are doing this as it is helping the community.

Urban legends don't constitute Data Protection breaches.

I think a few years ago there was a problem with Cablelink and the tv licence - some people had cable link but no tv licence.

    1. seeing something through a window != data protection breach

    2. whole thing smells of pubtalk consisting of nothing more than rumour, hearsay and perhaps no small amount of malevolence.

I'm sure the Data Protection Commissioner would "express concern" if he was made aware of it.

This is a bit different. All the information they give is available to the public anyway. What's stopping you going around all the houses in your town, seeing they're a child minder and checking the electoral register and reporting them. It's quite like welfare fraud.

Well he had a better stab at it than I did. I'm still at a loss of why you're posting gossip, basically.

Im sure something like this must have happened at least once where it was so blatently obvious and dangerous with kids hanging out of fúcking rusty spikes and playing in slurry pits or something along those lines.
Anybody would report that if they saw it.

Of course you would. I don't know what went on in the house. But where I live it's all farms.

If my own post reported me, I certainly wouldn't let it be, I'd burn it in the fire if I thought they were plotting against me, it's my house goddammit.

My concern however is not of the post but of my electrical toaster, I am convinced it is indeed tracking and noting my every movement in my house
and feeding it to the government who are preparing a file on me.. I am a prisoner in my own house. I must get a new toaster and you must get different post
