Saorview interfering with sky picture from RF2

I would appreciate an opinion on this. My set up is a kitchen tv connected to a sky box in another room from RF2. I've added a saorview box connected through scart which works perfectly.

My problem is with the saorview box on when I switch to watch the sky channel the sound of the sky channel comes through but the picture of the saorview channel. If I put the saorview box in standby the sky channel is perfect.

Whats even more baffling is I had a different saorview box connected previously with no problem.

    Thanks.

This seems strange as Saorview box is connected by scart. This may sound silly but can you change RF channel on Sky box and see if that makes any difference?

Problem is with your TV. It is not disconecting audio from scart connected equipment when using tuner. If it has more than one scart socket, try using a different one . If there is a HDMI use that.
Any other connectors? If there are Phono RCA inputs , ( yellow video, red and white for audio) , you could try using these with a suitable scart to Phono lead .
May be repairable, but probaly not worth it for an already obsolete TV.

Sky is via RF from another room, and Saorview is a local box on fully wired SCART cable.

It's the TV RGB mode is stupid.

Some TVs can't switch off RGB on Scart when you switch to RF. It's in parallel with Teletext. On RF select teletext. You'll see the teletext and local Saorview picture running through each other.

It's possible even if the Saorview box has a lower quality Composite vs RGB mode, the TV ignores the RGB signalling pin and displays what ever is on the RGB SCART.

You need either a rubbish SCART cable with Composite only, or put Saorview box to standby or newer TV. I bet it's about 15 years old.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Its a very old TV but still works perfectly apart from this little glitch. It only has the one scart connection and no other connections so looks like putting the saorview box on standby is my only option. What really puzzles me is it worked perfectly with a previous saorview box. Thanks again.

The Previous box either was Composite only on SCART, or had RGB turned off. If you use a partially wired Composite only SCART it likely works.

Went into the saorview box settings turned off RGB and it works perfectly. Nice one Watty cheers and thanks again to all who replied.

It's a bit lower quality, so personally I would leave RGB on and put box to standby.

But at least you have a choice now.

It's a common cost cutting thing on older TVs to permanently wire the RGB without switching to the Teletext RGB injection point, even if the Teletext IC is omitted.

I think a 1989 Salora I had was like that.
