I would like to turn off the embedded speakers on my Toshiba c660D-21E, and use my external speakers only. does anyone know how?

If you go in to device manager you can disable them.

Right click on Computer and click Manage.

Go to Device Manager and click on Sound controllers. Right click and disable.

I'm not sure if this will disable the audio out jack though. You can always re-enable if that's the case.

Are you conneting your speakers from the headphone socket? That should mute the laptop speakers automatically

No, connecting to the headphone socket does not cancel out internal speakers.
All I can do is addust volume on laptop and on speakers so I'm not aware of laptop speakers

    Thanks for your help.

You could also try reinstalling the drivers for your soundcard if nothing else works. Should find there here somewhere.
