Amazing how people who've deleted their facebook run to other public forums to say they've deleted their facebook account.

So, you've deleted their facebook account. Do tell.

Never bothered with Facebook. I had a Bebo account back when I was in primary school. Thought it was a waste of time back then and still think it's a waste of time today.

I'm on LinkedIn, don't think I've ever used it once beyond signing on.

Don't do Twitter, have nothing to say

#Having a poo at Pauls. Lol.

Have a Facebook account but only use it to keep in contact with friends abroad. Half the people I'm friends with I don't even like or care what they have to say. One thing I do find interesting about it, though, is how narrow minded people can really show themselves. Remember that "If you cross the North Korean border...." anti-immigrant shìte that did the rounds a while back?

Or you know it's time to call quits when the same people who share this around are the same ones who give up every drop of personal information about themselves on the same site.

Used to have people getting thick at me for not accepting them as a friend. What, is being a friend in real life not good enough these days? :pac:

oooooooooahhhh Im a couple weeks late for this thread.

I absolutely refused to give into the social network thing.
I just didn't see the point and thought Facebook was just for spotty teenagers trying to find there friends from 1st class.

But recently joined Facebook and I have to say it has been a great way to keep in touch with friends. Essentially, if you can't beat them, join them. Most of my friends have been on it for years and I never was so events/meetings/parties were all being discussed on Facebook and I was always phoned to text or just never knew about them!

So, there you have it. I've converted.

Funnily enough allot more sh!te gets posted on Twitter I find. I'd delete Twitter but its quite handy if you need to contact certain company reps like UPC, Blacknight etc. Hate it otherwise.
Not saying I like Facebook either though, and why do people use bloody Facebook Chat over the likes of MSN, Google or ones that work argh  .
I was on Myspace and Bebo, although not logged in in a while and don't use anymore.
Linkedin is the worst of the lot though, so boring, although thats to be expected :P .

You get out of it what you put in

If you find it useless you haven't realy discovered what it can do

I find twitter to be fairly useless

I did too until I bought a smartphone with a live feed on it, now I get the lastest news before they go on sites and other cool oddities like the realtime ww2 twitter and some other things.

    It's not useless at all.

Well it's like any site though. What you put in is what you get out. I'm subbed to the likes of AA road updates and news to get the latest traffic or news updates. It's great for "real time" searches on what's going on (sifting through the txt spk). The rest is pure sh!te though. Haven't logged on in a while.

Perhaps if you wrote "I'm having a poo @Paul's", Paul might have something to say.

I found twitter useless for yonks. Now I mostly find it interesting for finding new articles or stories which escape the mainstream press.

And of course, Liz Jones's used condom stealing exploits.

Did I confuse you with my double negative? ;)

I'm on Facebook. I've started deleting people off it though who added me as 'friends' yet wouldn't even look at me when I met them over the Christmas. It's grand for keeping in touch with friends from college/secondary school that I wouldn't see all that often. I don't update my status every 2nd minute though. Nobody needs to know what I'm doing!

Another annoying thing with Twitter is random people begging to RETWEET PLZ!!!! and then people you subscribe to actually doing it :S . Whats up with this does anyone know? Just a sad way for people to gain "popularity"? :S

Getting news/info straight away generally isn't a concern of mine and I find the amount of rubbish generally outweighs the positives.

If something substantial breaks on twitter it appears on other media such as boards soon enough.

I'm on facebook- it's very handy for keeping in contact with people who live abroad. I don't have a clue how people can spend hours a day on it though.. I'd have a look through the updates, wish someone 'happy new year' or whatever, update my status if I've anything to say (which I usually don't, to be honest!) and I've no more to do on it even if I wanted to.
A girl I work with spends aaaages on facebook and I've no idea how it could keep someone interested for so long.

I'm also on twitter but not mad about it so far.

The only thing I use twitter for is occasional website updates, and earthquake alerts. I dont have any followers or people I actually know and I never post anything myself on it. So twitter seems fine to me, and Saezuri is a nice little program that pops up twitter updates neatly at the bottom of your screen.

What rubbish? if you're not subscribed you don't see it.

Fair enough about not wanting the latest news, I guess..

I think any one who is fed up with the likes of facebook or other social networking sites isn't using them correctly or gotten the most out of them.

I did leave facebook, but then returned after realising that it's better to join them!

You just need to adjust privacy settings, block annoying people, and don't play games (block everything!). Ah, peace of mind. :pac:

Use facebook to keep in contact with my friend in England, aside from that I'd probably get rid of it.

I have a twitter as well but I just use that to creep people out.

I do neither.twitter,I don't get twitter.my friend follows Jack Wilshire from arsenal and all he does is post pictures of his dinner.exciting stuff.as for Facebook my lady says I should be on it.I disagree strongly.I already talk and go for pints and play ball and socialize with the people I want in my life.don't see the point in spending hours communicating with people ya couldn't give 2 plops about and they not care about you.as for photos and all that its very nosey.I don't like the jist of it at all at all.

Quite true, knowing who is decent to follow and who posts crap isn't always obvious though. I gave it a try and found it lacking *shrugs*

I'm also coloured by people quoting twitter as a source for things and it inevitably turns out to be rubbish.

Deleated my facebook account a couple of years ago. Never joined twitter. Couldn't see the point of either.

Friends who used to once catch up with me by texting or calling or meeting up got lazy and instead left me lazy and innane comments on facebook. I got tired of pretending to be friends with people i rarely talked to outside of facebook and decided to leave. One of the best decision i ever made!

Wow I thought I was the only one!!:D
I don't have twitter, facebook, LinkedIn or anything of the sort!! I can stand it when your on night out and someone takes a picture of you.....2 days later all you hear from people is "hey saw you on Facebook the other night".
Like the amount of times I'm after telling people to take my picture down is unbelievable.

Now I'm off to get my pipe and slippers!

I am one of those anti facebook types but I grudgingly accept that it's better to have one than not have one. I'm at uni at the moment and it's almost impossible not to have one otherwise you're out the loop, people can't contact you over work assignments as easily, don't know about events etc.

I don't have a wall on facebook though. I don't post statuses and if people want to contact me they can message me. I think you have to be careful what you put on the internet and also the wall feature makes me think that you're on stage in a theatre with a friend and 200 people are watching. I don't like it at all.

I also don't have twitter. I used to but I gradually realised I had little interest in reading what other people were saying. The inner politics of retweeting and following back grated me. Also once some randomer gets a couple of hundred followers they start acting as if they're a celebrity saying all sorry haven't been posting I've been busy, I love all my followers yadda yadda yadda

There should be a setting so that people can't tag you in photos.
Nothing more annoying than constantly having a camera shoved in your face on nights out, grr..

That's it , and you can if you wish just add people you know in real life = exit and delete the 700 others I don't .

I don't understand twitter or Linkedin. I 'get' facebook but find it far too invasive and tedious for use on a regular basis.

As far as I know, there's a privacy setting that demands your permission before you are tagged in photos . . . Have a look and see, pretty sure there is.

It doesn't really have to be if you don't want it to be. You can block certain aspects of your profile from certain people etc. The privacy settings ARE there and CAN be changed, but people generally leave them at the default. But seriously, have a look and fiddle through them, its only as invasive as you want it to be. I'm on a Facebook 'Friend' clean up-deleting people who only added me for a nose!

Hate facebook and everything associated with it. I was speaking to our marketing manager last week and she was explaining how she is able to target engaged couples in Donegal on facebook with our product. As she explained more, its amazing how much info you give facebook, how they use it to sell advertising and how much money they make out of you.
