Another attack by what they call the dissidents. I am shocked no one was killed in this cowardly attack. It seems they are interesting in killing anyone now. That bomb could have killed nationalists, never mind the British army soldier.

Good to see all parties have condemned it .

Perhaps these "dissidents" would have more fun living in Baghdad. bunch of animals.

Gerry Kelly seems to be insinuating something about the activities in the car; describing it as a 'party car', that the doors were left unlocked and the soldier had not been to sleep.

Has the car been used for drug or sexual purposes? I couldn't quite put two and two together.

Displaying military insignia in the car and parking it in a nationalist area? He should have known better. The animals haven't gone away you know.

Of course not. I'm not condoning that kind of behaviour at all. Just struck me as a daft thing for a soldier to do in NI.

Do they? Every time one of these attacks happen in Ulster, the area comes out and condemns it. Nationalists want no part of this little "game" the dissidents are playing.

Perhaps they need to take the hint from the community they claim to represent and pack it in and go home.

Soldiers based in NI are usually briefed in all the do's and don't about personal security while based in NI. I suppose because this guy isnt actually based in NI but just visiting he wasnt aware of the precautions.

This was an Iterview the RIRA gave to the mirror today, I will post it here FWIW.

THE Real IRA last night claimed they planned to kill the Queen when she visited Ireland.
But they called off an assassination attempt on the Queen because they did not believe her life was worth one of their volunteers being jailed.
In an astonishing interview with the Irish Daily Mirror the Dublin leadership of the dissident group claim they met to plot the killing and were confident they could pull it off.

A spokesman said: "We considered killing the Queen. We could have managed to carry out a successful attack but it wouldn't have been feasible to get away.
"The streets were lined with gardai and secret service.
"Any volunteer would have been caught and locked up for life.
"A volunteer's life is not worth the life of the Queen."
There were massive security fears ahead of the visit of Queen Elizabeth II last year. Thousands of gardai and army personnel were drafted in to safeguard her time here from May 17 to 20.
The entire operation to police the visits of the Queen and US President Barack Obama cost €36million.
Gardai feared, above all others, that the Real IRA would attempt to carry out an attack on the British monarch when she travelled here.
The revelations prove the concern was completely justified. It also shows the ring of steel put in place thwarted the group's plans.
The organisation, which refers to itself as the IRA, yesterday insisted it now has the firepower capable of launching a major assault.
Among the deadly arsenal weapons are rocket-propelled grenades and encrypted bombs.
A spokesman said: "The gardai can count themselves lucky that she wasn't attacked.
"It could have been very embarrassing."
The group branded the four-day visit "disgusting" and defended their decision to lead a number of violent protests in the capital.
Senior members of the controversial gang were spotted leading demonstrations in the capital and Cork.
The spokesman said: "The so-called pillars of society were fawning over her but the streets of Dublin were empty.
"The Cork Brigade did carry out a grenade attack and members in Dublin organised in assisting youths in rebelling on the streets. The IRA mobilised the youths. The public protest showed that there were numbers on the streets willing to oppose the visit."
The Dublin branch of the secretive organisation had an extremely busy year in 2011.
As well as the threats against the Queen's visit the group is suspected of carrying out the September murder of international drug smuggler Michael "Micka" Kelly and a separate bomb attack on Garda informer Paddy Dixon last August.
The group have been accused of extorting cash from drug dealers and have also fallen out with rival dissident groups.
Despite this the RIRA claim they are more popular than ever and have plenty of support.
The spokesman said: "This year has been our best so far and we have had significant numbers of people joining our organisation.
"We have a young base but we also have a good number of former Provos.
"We wouldn't put a number on our membership because we can't know, but we are the strongest republican group in Ireland and definitely in the south.
The group claimed that teachers, mechanics and students all signed up in the last year. It is widely believed that the RIRA are bankrolling their bloody actions through extortion rackets.
But the Dublin branch rubbished these claims and said they fundraise through traditional Republican methods.
The spokesman added: "We have a lot of money spinners. We fundraise from fuel smuggling, cheap DVDs and cigarettes.
"We also use a lot of the same fundraising that has been used in the past. We do not tax drug dealers. If you tax them then you are as bad as them."
Asked if the group sees any hypocrisy in criticising drug dealers while they sell illegal cigarettes, a member said: "There is a qualitative difference between cigarettes and drugs.
"The working class can't afford cigarettes so we are meeting the needs of the community.
"Nobody is being pressured into buying the cigarettes."
The Real IRA recently admitted bombing two banks in the North as well as the UK City of Culture office in Derry.
The spokesman said: "Such attacks are an integral part of our strategy of targeting the financial infrastructure that supports the British government's capitalist colonial system in Ireland.
"The impetus to carry out this type of attack is directly linked to pressure from working-class communities in Ireland as a whole."
The Dublin brigade said they agreed with the strategy but hadn't extended the policy to this side of the border yet.
The spokesman added: "At the moment we don't envision it happening here.
"We do however recognise that there is a tolerance for action against banks.
"Bankers are guilty of crimes against the working classes.
"We would encourage working class people to get out and organise civil disobedience."

A TOP security expert has poured cold water on the Real IRA's claims,
However, former Army captain Tom Clonan said the dangerous group had the capacity to launch a disruptive strike.
He added: "I do not believe this gang have the capacity to carry out a pinpoint murder or an attack.
"However, what they could have done was place a car bomb along the route designed to explode at a specific time."
Dr Clonan is a former army officer with experience in the Middle East and the former Yugoslavia.
Since his retirement he has spent several years researching dissident groups like the RIRA.
"From my research I have found that these guys are committed, they are not a criminal outfit who are looking after their own interests.
"They have beliefs that they stand for and this makes them a serious and credible threat to the State.
"They are more predictable than the last crowd."

THE Real IRA is building up a deadly arsenal of weapons capable of causing mass mayhem and death.
Describing their deadly arsenal the Dublin leadership said: "We have good engineering units that are able to develop weapons.
"We have rocket propelled grenades, electronic detonated bombs, mercury volt switch bombs, remote bombs that are encrypted, light machine guns, heavy machine guns and assault rifles."
The RIRA claimed that they have an effective network transporting weapons across the border.
They say that this is controlled by so-called "unknown volunteers".
The gang said: "We are not having our weapons seized unlike other groups.
"Our supply network from the south to the north is very strong and has not been broken.
"These volunteers have no previous history they have no Facebook pages and there would be only one person from the organisation who would deal with the unknown volunteers.

well these kind of attacks would require a network of people, im not saying an entire area supports them but its clear there are people throughout the island that do

The dissidents are a bit of a joke really. They should do us all a favour and pull the plug.

The dogs on the street up here know that MI5 runs these organisations. There'll be no pulling of any plugs as demographics change, MI5 does not want to lose statistics in the PSNI.

What are they fighting for? The war is over, anyone who is old enough to compare the conditions on the ground today, with those 25 - 30 years ago can easily laugh at these idiots. Of course these chickens were nowhere to be seen, when the serious fighting was being done.

"Oh, we could have taken her out. Easy peasy. But we didn't want to. So instead we stirred up easily led young lads to throw bricks instead".

    Riiiiiiiiiight.

I have no illusions that these guys represent a clear threat (in so much as a dangerous idiot is still dangerous), but that "interview" was just trying to wave ones willy on the pitch after the match was over and everyone gone home.
