Ive been kind of spoilt for the last couple of years, every weekend Summer or Winter Ive had gigabytes of good stuff to watch, Mad Men, Survivor, Game of Thrones, Apprentice, Boardwalk Empire, too many to name and loads of 20 minute Office USAs, Family Guy, Archer etc thrown in there aswell.

But now Ive got nothing, I have literally 4 episodes of Fringe left to watch and that's it, this is the worst drought Ive ever seen and no sign of anything else on the horizon for a long time, can anyone reccomend anything please, weekends arent the same without getting pissed and watching top quality 720p no ads tv :(

    give it up for:

    Dexter
    Sons of Anarchy
    Breaking Bad
    American Horror Story
    Modern Family

All well worth a watch imo!

    House
    third watch
    The West Wing

Seen them all, except The West Wing which I deleted after a few episodes, couldn't stand the really fake snappy dialouge back and forth and back and forth between the characters, found the whole thing incredibly cheesy and contrived.

it's true, there's actually nothing on at the moment - I'm currently watching ST: TNG with a plan to throw on a DVD of a FILM in a while.......and then when I go back to work, it'll be Third Watch (for probably the fifth time!)......that said, I watch s3 - 5 of the Wire over Xmas, so that was great!

You're right, very slim pickings at the moment. The golden age of TV is long gone and there's not much of any quality around compared to the last decade. Those few good shows that are left won't be back for a while. (Breaking Bad has 16 episodes left which they might string out into S5 and S5.5 but it's a long way off. Game of Thrones S2 starts in about 3 months I think)

I do find BBC's Sherlock great fun and very entertaining. Only 4 episodes to date but it feels like a lot more as they're an hour long with the 5th this Sunday.

I've been saving Deadwood as it's one of the last greats I've yet to watch - this could be the time.

Californication is back in a few days - I've enjoyed that so far. Also, Spartacus: Vengeance is with us in about 3 weeks. They're the only 2x I can think of that are on my radar anytime soon.

forgot Life On Mars - that's a great show

Lucky cnut, actually I might just rewatch Deadwood now that you mention it, Ive only seen it once and every episode is sublime, Ive probably forgotten half of it. My brother has the Sopranos and The Wire, all seasons on the WD media player I gave him for Christmas 2 years ago but he says he's 'too busy'. Scum.

He's "too busy" for quite possibly the 2x greatest tv shows ever made? Tut-tut.

Bless you sir, Larry Sanders rarely gets a mention on the forum. Paved the way for 'Curb' but far superior imo.

Three old school suggestions from before my time:

    I, Claudius
    Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
    Steptoe and Son

Do you like comedies? Here are some good ones: Community, Arrested Development, Parks and Recreation, Party Down, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace (it's spin off, Man to Man with Dean Learner is also good), The Office (original version), Black Books, Happy Endings, New Girl, early seasons of Scrubs, The IT Crowd, The Inbetweeners, Futurama, Frasier...

Some other good shows are Veronica Mars, Mad Men, Freaks and Geeks, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, and the first two seasons of Skins.

There really are loads of good programmes out there.

My problem is Ive seen basically everything mentioned in this thread, when I get a new series I cant stop myself watching 6 episodes in one go until 4 in the morning or whatever, I get through stuff too fast.

Person of Interest is interesting enough, so far.

what about Stargate 17 seasons in total over SG-1, Atlantis and Universe
have you seen sanctuary, chuck, how i met your mother, the big bang theory, rules of engagment, house, white collar, covert affairs, all pretty decents shows, not epic by any means but they fill some of the large gaps the schedual throws up,

it is fairly annoying when you run of the good shows, i have 2 or 3 shows ive yet to watch just waiting till im desperate, probably gonna watch the shield or mad men in summer,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,055 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

THE PACIFIC! The sequel to Band of Brothers, I was going to wait for the series to finish then download them all but I just forgot about it, not a lot of eps but at least its something.

Wallenberg? BBC version of Swedish policeman novels starring Kenneth Branagh would be an enjoyable evening or two?..

In fairness if they've seen as little as they're letting on they won't get most of it. :pac:

You mean Wallander and the original Swedish series was much better.

I have been saving up all my american tv shows to watch as I was very busy in December with work, studying, life :D

Since last week I have caught up with The Secret Circle. Also am up to date with New Girl, Revenge and 2 Broke Girls. This week I am going to catch up the last 4 episodes of Supernatural that have aired and the last 5 eps of Enlightened and the last 4 of Ringer.

After that is all done I have to watch all of Season 6 of Dexter, 2 Seasons of Boardwalk Empire and then it will be Spartacus time :D

no, i just havent had time to get around to them, last 3 years i watched the sopranos, west wing, the wire, house, dexter, and im currently watching its always sunny in philadelphia,

kinda hard finding time to watch everything, especially the hour long (some 45 mins) shows, with all the shows im watching as they air to,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,776 ✭✭✭youngblood

S3 of Community is quality stuff
    and under-rated

    Other than that, im out

Cant find another series of interest to get into!

All my favs have finished or cancelled!

Have you seen Bodies and Pulling? How Not To Live Your Life? Trailer Park Boys? Summer Heights High?

How obscure do we need to go? I have a few Scandinavian dramas I can recommend but they're nto everyone's cup of tea.
