    Hi
    I had a quick look through this forum there ;) and I can’t seem to find the question I wish to ask.

    Anyway moving on we have a 42" Flat screen Philips TV, which is 4 years old today :eek:(after finding the receipt!!!). The TV has digital TV built into it. During 2008 we received Irish digital TV RTÉ, Irish radio etc during the test period of digital TV. Late 2008 the test finished and since that we have not been able to receive digital TV. :(

    I had heard that RTÉ had changed the frequency in which they were broadcasting digital TV. :mad:

    So the question is can we not receive digital TV on this particular TV and have to buy a Saorview box for this TV along with another 4/5 boxes for the other TV’s in the house :eek:?? :confused:

    If you get sound without picture then your tv is just compatible with freeview-the UK standard which was Mpeg2.
    During testing you probably could pick it up just like those cheap picnic boxes could but now that they have the standard Mpeg 4 up & running you're left without pictures.
    Not too many 4 year old tv's that can pick up saorview which is Mpeg4.

    Don't panic over getting boxes for all the tv's in the house,you have 'til October before the analogue is switched off,the range and price of boxes should improve by then.

    Hi Zerks,
    Thanks for the reply, one day I was trying to find channels on the digital tv part on the tv, its sperate like AV 1, AV 2....etc, and I lost the channels and we are unable to find any now what so ever. it just says that no preset channels can be found.

    Reading the user manual it says something about MPEG.....:confused:

    It's all a bit confusing :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::(

    AV1 etc. are just the scart connections for the tv where you connect up your dvd player etc.

    There should be an install menu where you can do an auto scan for digital signals.If the manual says Mpeg 2 then you're out of luck but as Peter Rhea said- post the model number of the tv,it's on the back of it.
